Planned a trip with a buddy to come see Whiskey Myers at Red Rocks and see the Rockies play. Of course I had to stop by the mothership for two reasons. First, I have no knife on me and needed something for last resort personal safety/defense(didn’t check a bag). Secondly, how can I ever pass up a chance to visit the store!!! Extremely friendly staff and experience!!!! Went with the Matriarch 2, for $138 it was hard to beat. Absolutely GORGEOUS land/mountains out here in Boulder and Golden!!!!!

I went yesterday for the first time. And spoke with Sal about kitchen knives. Nice guy.

The prices aren’t less than what you would find on popular online knife retailers…. Unless you buy from the open box display or an extra discounted (clearanced) model.

I left with 4 knives.

Lucky dog. I’m hoping to make my way to Colorado for vacation in the next year or two. Stopping by there is on my list. Thanks for sharing.

Boulder and Golden are incredible little towns to visit!!!!

Never been in Golden and, the last time I was in Boulder was in the early-mid 70's. 🤷‍♂️

According to SpydieWiki, Spyderco was formed in 1978 but didn't sell its 1st knife until 1981.

Did a motorcycle tour in the early 90's that took me thru the southwest corner of CO, but Spyderco wasn't on my radar yet then.

I once thought about flying to Denver to visit the Earthroamer showroom (they make expensive offroad vehicles).

Golden is only 35 miles from their location but their prices have risen about 3-4x's the amount that they cost when I 1st considered this trip and I don't have a spare $400-600k to buy a used one now. o_O

So, unfortunately, I don't think I'll be traveling to the Denver area again any time soon. LOL! ;)

Spyderco started with a "third hand" soldering jig, then started making sharpeners before they started making knives. There is a high end exotic vehicle place just up the hill from the store that is worth a look if you are into that sort of thing. I'm heading up there this weekend for the OpFocus seconds sale.

Would love to go have a look at their HQ. My first Spydie was a Pro-Venator back in 1991. The last knife I bought -- a Para 2 Salt -- was also a Spydie. Its been a journey!

Definitely worth a look if you are in the area, but I'd give them a few more months to finish some things. They are currently remodelling and expanding the store as well as completing the new expansion, which is much larger than the original building (including the previous expansion).
