Got a Scottevest? Okay, so about a year ago, I started a thread about concealed carry jackets. At that time the Sig Sauer version seemed to be the way to go, but for one reason or another I never got around to ordering the jacket. Since then I've run across this company called Scottevest, and I thought their "Revolution +" model was intriguing with concealed pockets all over the place.

Does anyone have this jacket? What do you think? Would you recommend it? Purchase it again?

Thanks

I don't have the Revolution + but I have a several year old Three 0 jacket and fleece liner that I use fall through spring for general around town, to work and back kind of wear. It's great for that but I'm not sure the material would hold up to rough woods, brush and rocks. I like it well enough I did purchase a replacement when my firat one was damaged in an accident.

Thanks, I appreciate the input. I'm unlikely to encounter woods and brush etc. in this jacket so that should be fine.

My mom-in-law just bought the vest. It's a woman's vest so it's very trim and feminine even though it has all those pockets. She looks good in it. She's going to use it instead of purse. Anyway, this doesn't really answer your question, but I can tell you they're well-made quality products.

I'd inquire about sizing. She bought a medium and had to exchange it for a large. She's DEFINITELY not a large woman. I'd say she's fairly trim and petite. Hopefully, men's sizing is more accurate.

Thanks, that's the sort of thing I wanted to hear!

Carry less gear, they look silly.

I'm not actually planning on carrying a lot of gear, I just want something that makes concealed carry easier. I didn't think they looked particularly silly in fact the jacket I'm looking at looks like several other jackets I have. Perhaps I've looked silly the whole time though I suppose. As with the others I appreciate the input.

Crap, went to order the jacket this morning and wouldn't you know it, they are out of my size!

I saw mom-in-law today. I ssked her about her vest. She returned the large and kept the medium after all. She thought she needed the large if she was going to fill up all those inside pockets. She realized she wouldn't actually do that, and that the medium would do. So, maybe their sizing is accurate after all. Hope you find your jacket. Have you tried other retailers?

If it's for gun carry, I recommend getting a good holster and a good belt. If you're intending to wear a jacket or a long vest anyway, you might as well just use it to conceal an IWB holster and get all the advantages of a fast, conventional draw.

The holstered gun won't shift around, you won't take it off and hang it on the back of your chair, and you have more options with regard to gun size and weight.

Everything I've heard about jacket carry — even the heavier weight options like Coronado Leather — suggests that you can't go much heavier than 20–25oz without it flopping around. And if you're going that small, you might as well put a small Kahr or a J-frame in any jacket pocket.

Things are a little different if you're, say, a cab driver and need something accessible from a seated position, but I'd encourage you to revisit your reasons. (Or post about why you settled on this choice! I'd love to hear it!)

Thanks for asking, it turns out they weren't out of my size had a 30% off sale going and free 2 day shipping. I'm looking forward to seeing my new jacket on Tuesday!

I'm afraid I don't have anything brilliant, except that I don't want to IWB carry. I hate having pants two sizes to large and in my job appearance does matter. Also I can't have an untucked shirt hanging over the holster or anything.

I meant to post about this. I got the Jacket and it's pretty nice. It does have piles of pockets and it looks pretty decent as well. I have to agree though that I'm not sure it's going to be good for concealed carry, my springfield XD subcompact just seems to be too heavy for the pockets and is dragging the jacket down on that side.

Have you tried loading down the other side with magazines/ammo? It may balance things out. I don't know what it's going to look like, though.

Good stuff but very expensive. Not worth the coin in my opinion. I just wear a regular jacket or vest. You just need something to cover your gun. Why do you need to spend $175 to do that when a standard vest or jacket will fit the bill? Just curious?

Magazines, flashlights and all the defensive gear needs to be on your person all the time...you don't want to take off a jacket and then walk away and have a situation and realize your supportive gear is two rooms away from the problem. Keep it on your belt on in your pants pockets and just get a jacket or vest to cover the gun. Don't make it complicated.

Carry one in each pocket. :D I have an older model Scottevest and would lose stuff in the pockets. Funny thing is that I could feel them on a pat down but couldn't figure out how to get to them. :o I found that the higher inside pockets distribute the weight better across the shoulders then the low pockets. What pocket are you using to carry the XD?
