I recently had a cross-country drive that allowed the chance to stop at Grand Prairie Knives' (aka GPKnives) actual store location in Troy, Illinois and it was an absolute treat. Rows and rows of Benchmade and Spyderco. Sebenzas arranged in a case. A selection of beautiful custom knives. Case, Buck, Queen, Great Eastern, Schatt & Morgan, Becker - KaBar... I was entirely overwhelmed.
Clean organized store. Easy access for interstate travelers. Huge selection. Friendly staff. I highly recommend.
I also got a kick out of the other shoppers. A small group of young people looking for an outdoor hunting knife and having trouble deciding between a KaBar or Buck. And two older fellas peering closely into the Case knife display and discussing whether the peanut knives in the display were larger or smaller than the one fellow's knife at home, and that there must be a Mini-Peanut pattern. Possibly they are all members of BladeForums, but I didn't ask.
