So I figured we needed a place to compair our GEC's. Looking for that new pattern can be hard without a comparison pic, so lets see your group shots. Or if you dont see what your looking for, ask. Updating your collection pics is always welcome :D

I will start with my very small collection and I will also ask for a comparison shot. First my three:

1. #71 Orange bullnose redneck farmtool
2. #79 Montana workhorse whittler with micarta(sanded for traction)
3. #66 Serpentine Jack yellow rose

I would like to see some similar shots of a 57 gheppetto whitler with a 66 stockman? Hard to compair their sizes from different pics.

So lets see your collections folks, give us all a chance to see some gec group shots.

Thanks
Jeff

Nice Jeff! I really like that Yellow Rose.

I don't have a collection, as I have sold or traded all my GEC knives except the primitive bone Ben Hogan (65).

No worries on the photo's Doug. I love the yellow rose material, I am not sold on the blade configuration though. I love the 66 frame, kinda looking at the cattle knives. I have also considered changing the pen blade into a sheepsfoot/coping. Would better suit my needs/taste.

I'm having the pen blade of my old barlow reshaped as a wharncliffe while it is away being rescaled, so I know what you mean about the blade setup.

Only 80 grit sandpaper. It greys when not polished. Adding oil brings the rich color back for a short time(wd-40). It is still not grippie enough for me and really want to sandblast it. Just dont have one. I will document any further experimentation. Going to practice a wire wheel on some scrap micarta I have laying around.

cant comment on your traction problem but i really like the look of it, strange as its not a material that i normally gravitate to, maybe if they offered your "80 Grit" option i'd have noticed, really cool

Here is an old picture of mine, but it covers the smallest to the largest.

Top Row left to right: #73 Scout @ 3-3/4", #23 Pioneer @ 4-1/2", #73 Scout @ 3-3/4"
Middle Row left to right: #54 Whittler @ 4-1/8", Pioneer @ 4-1/2", #73 Scout @ 3-3/4"
Bottom Row left to right: #53 Big Jack @ 4-1/8", Pioneer @ 4-1/2", #25 Jack @ 3"

As you can plainly see from this photo, the #53/54 equal end pattern gives a lot of blade length for a pretty pocketable frame. Longer but slimmer than the Scout frame, they carry about the same. But they are both MUCH smaller than the Pioneer. The little #25 was too small for my big mitts. Not pictured, but the 3-7/16" #66 frame is the smallest that works for me.

Thanks Gene. The sandpaper finish is not near as slick as the factory finish. If I had never felt sandblasted micarta I would be happy with it as is.

Jeff, Great pic. Have to get the laptop out to see in high res. I agree with the 66 frame being the smallest that works. I have a very comfy 3 1/2 finger grip when holding the jack.

Thanks Ed, I was waiting for your pics. Glad we got to see a "few" lol. That conductor at the end suprises me by how big it is, gonna have to give it a second look. Just not sure how comfortable that bail is when using the coping blade? If you ever feel like sharing more I would love to see your 79's, particularly in a group shot with some friends ;) Thanks again for sharing

i am mostly a fixed blade guy. but, i have recently started looking at these traditional slipjoints. flymon...what is that large yellow one? not the cigar one. the big one. i dig that handle shape. thanks.

I have a few older pics with a bunch of different knives. I hope this helps.

#25, #56, #12, #53 and a Case/Bose Tribal Spear. Don't think I have a pic with the blades open though.

Thickness difference between a GEC #53 Furtaker trapper (black bone) and a GEC made Tuna Valley 4 blade stockman (red bone). The 4 blade stockman has both blades of the #53 Furtaker but also a sheepsfoot and spey blade. The blades stock is thicker on the TV but ground to make room for the opposite blades

That about does it for comparison shots I've already taken. The rest of my pics are knives with different handles within a model number. I still have a #65 Ben Hogan, #85 Bullet End Jack, a #89 Executive Whittler not pictured. I can take a pic of them tomorrow and another knife or two. Any requests?
