I had never heard of Warren Osborne before when I asked for a suggestion from a knife store and the guy said I carry a 940; great knife. I loved the look of the knife but I just couldn't justify the price; especially when I could get a 950 Rift for less (mo blade, less $$$). I ordered a Rift and a Griptilian and both were a bit big and thick for EDC stuff; especially at work in khakis. Finally decided to pony up and buy a 940. I would love to tell you that it was love at first site and it kinda was but it definitely wasn't. I really dug the way it looked but man I hated the feel of that handle. So much so that I immediately put it up for sale. Woke up this morning and handled the knife for most of the morning and the feeling of the handle has grown on me.
In theory I'm drawn to BIG knives; I'm a big guy with big hands. In practice however, I like a long/slim knife. I discovered recently that I really dig Case's Slimline trapper due to it having a long handle and a slim/lightweight design. Turns out the same is true with a modern folder. The 940 is really all I need in an EDC and if I need something more heavy duty I probably just need to use a fixed blade.
A few requests for Benchmade:
Would love to see additional handle colors. Green is sexy though.
Would love to see a lower cost version (154CM, D2, or whatever steel) with a less expensive handle.
Please don't stop making this knife!
