Does anyone know if the Greeks have ever been know to produce knives?

I ask because, well, I'm 50% Greek. Do any folders come out of Greece? Or any knives a all?

Thanks,

It is said that the khukuri is based on the Greek kopis. But that is ancient history! Modern day Greek knives? Um.... none that I know of. Get a kopis!

Modern greek knives... well, not really something worth talking about.
Only in Crete there is a knife culture since the Middle Ages. Cretan knives look like scandinavian puukkos, only larger. Same blade shape, but instead of a round wooden handle, they use a full tang with two separate slabs of bone (real or synthetic).

Costas,

Where could I see samples of thes Cretan knives, and better yet, how might I obtain one, if I liked how it looked?

TIA

Well, I couldn't find anything, I only found this:

http://cretashop.gr/br/

They don't advertise any knives, but maybe you could contact them and try to arrange a special order, if they are willing to do it.
