I have this HF 4x36 belt grinder i use for grinding my knives. It has a 3/4 hp motor and it runs very well. I have heard of people makeing these into 2x72 grinders. If anyone can shed some light on this for me it would be much appreciated. :D
 
I haven't seen that conversion but I suggest you look at a coote 2 x 72" it was my first machine and still runs fine.

www.cootebeltgrinder.com It will cost you under a $1000.00 for everything to make a adjustable speed 2 x 72 machine with a 1 1/2 horse motor which is what you really need.
