Hey guys!

I was looking for a flexible light to mount to the grinder for some specific lighting and was wondering what you all had and what you liked?

Dude, I just spent forever looking all around for one and I finally found one I really like. The brand is ott, and I actually found it at Joanns fabric on recommendation from my wife. This I the one I got: http://products.ottlite.com/p-383-led-cone-clip-lamp.aspx Joanns usually has good coupons and sales, I got mine for $21. But it is insanely bright. 300 lumens, and it seems to be pretty high quality. I just clamped it right onto my grinder.

i have two of these, not inexpensive but these are well made

I was looking at those; They are pricy but have heard allot of good about them. Is there a problem with the cord coming out the bottom?

I guess I didn't like the idea of LED's, but several of you posted some so do you like LED better?

I had been looking for somthing with a magnetic base but....

I was looking at this: http://www.grizzly.com/products/Magnetic-Base-Light/G5683 anyone have these?

Thanks for the tips guys; I'll look around.

For me, the magnetic base is the way to go, in that manner the light can be placed any where on the all steel chassis of your grinder.

Daniel, I wasn't sure I was going to like the LED lights when I first bought one, but I've come to like them so much I have 6 of them. Here is a video I just shot. Not sure if the video does them justice, but have a look.

Daniel,
I have a several different lamps from Vintage 1950's industrial Desk, 2/Bulb 24", Magnetic base and a few I rescued from the alley,:D

Whatever works:thumbup:. I two 4/bulb 8' Florescent hanging from the ceiling and whatever works to light each work station.

I prefer the incandescent but as time rolls on, the LED's get better and the incandescent are harder to find.

if they are good enough for my Surefire, there are good enough for my shop!;)

I like the 6500K colour

The
JANSJÖ
LED work lamp, black
are cheap and slim, but the light is dim and yellow
Bad colour and low lumens for me.

I'd like to use LED's because they will be relatively cool -
I tried Halogen in normal fixtures and burned my forehead many times.

I'm going to try something like these next - but I'll have to build some arms like Nick had and mount them on.

I really recommend 6500K LED light. It will show things you just can't see in the softer light of an incandescent or fluorescent bulb.

I have switched most all the lights in the shop and store to LED 5800-6500K lamps. Besides using a lot less energy, being brighter, and cooler, they don't need changing all the time.

The new 48" LED replacement lamps for fluorescent fixtures are really nice. Just pop out the old glass bulbs and snap in the new LED lamps. Doesn't need HV to ignite the lamp, so it even works on a fixture with a bad ballast. Two new LED lamps cost less than a new ballast. They also last about 25,000 hours. Another big plus is they work fine in cold weather. Florescent lamps don't work right below 30F. Costo/Sam's/BJ's all carry then now. About $24 for a two pack. A complete 48" fixture with lamps cost about $35.

Yeah, a lot of the LED lights ( and other types) are down near 2400-2700K. Soft white is great for making your honey look good in the bedroom, but not good for a work shop.

Those look like Moffatt lights... they are some of the highest quality lights I have found and will last for years and years. I only have 3 so far, but hope to add more anywhere I need additional lighting! The ones I use (link above) have a quick disconnect so you can get one or two and move them around the shop if you can't afford too many. It is very convenient.

I then get some 120w LED floodlight bulbs from Lowes and I'm good to go. I use dual lights (one on either side) of where I'm grinding.
