Does anyone one have the combo listed above? I hate the hollow feeling of the grips plastic handles and I saw some micarta handles for the knife that look amazing. Just curious how they fell/work. Would you recommend spending 160 for the grip and scales or go for a pre-made benchmade?

Yes I recommend quality Micarta scales. I have some OD scales and they not only look good but offer a great feel and grip. Micarta is plenty tough and they have a very classy, vintage look.

Here is my griptilian with custom g 10 handles. The blade is also slightly different, but the whole knife is based on the griptilian platform. You can use the handles with your standard griptilian blade. If interested search for Kevin Wilkins grips

Wilkins are great but pricey! Also check out Cuscadi! They re not really cheap to do but they make awesome knives!! Get the Ritter blade with the S30V steel or better yet do a knife with the new limited run M4 Benchmade blade and an aftermarket grip!!

These are the canvas micarta scales I made for my mini grip. I'm a big fan of micarta. It has a really nice texture and feel.

Thought I had posted in this thread already but I guess it was a similar one. Here are some pics of my mini Ritter Griptilian with Cuscadi scales and an STR low rider pocket clip. This combo puts this knife in a whole other category for me now! Good luck with your decision.

that's a sweet looking Grip my man!

Personally I wouldn't go with them if you plan to EDC it. You're going to void the warranty if you do that and you'll be SOL if one of those omega springs break.

Changing scales does not necessarily void the BM warranty.
Here's some examples.

There is no doubt, that is their policy.
However, when they inforce that policy, is up to them.
So, as I said, "Changing scales does not necessarily void the BM warranty."

Those look great! I love my Mini Grip 556, but the scales are so bland and cheap feeling (even though I know they are perfectly functional as is).

Even if you break a spring, an E-mail to their customer service will likely result in a new spring being sent to you. I tried, unsuccessfully, to make new scales for a Grip last year, and I lost a couple of screws. I E-mailed them and they sent me a new set, no questions asked.

You can do nice things with G10 as well... it has a really nice texture, especially when bead blasted. I would say it feels a lot harder and possibly more solid. It also comes in a lot more colors than micarta. Either material is a big upgrade from the plastic the stock ones are made of. Carbon fiber looks really good, but is pretty slippery, I haven't found a good way to add texture to it yet.

...for the ladies...

Also... if you break an omega spring... and you put the stock scales back on and send it in... benchmade is not going to know, or care... I promise you. I can't imagine the fraction of a penny an omega spring probably costs them.

Tanto is a 557, so it's a mini griptilian yes. I'm not a tanto fan, I just bought it because it was the cheapest one available, so when I make scales for people, I don't have to have one of my precious m4 ritter grips apart. :)
