Cutlery Shoppe shows two versions being sold. One looks like a solid VG-10 hollow-ground model and, the other appears to be a flat ground VG-10 laminate. I assume both are made at the same Seki factory.
  • Are the sheaths any good?
  • What is the laminate construction layer material?
  • Is one particularly better or worse than the other?
User reviews or comments for owners of current production models would be appreciated!

TIA,
Sid

I believe VG-10 is a laminate steel, one just explicitly states it. I have own a Gryphon M10, it is amazing knife and best sheath on the market. Depends on what you want your knife for? The grinds lend themselves to different tasks slightly better. So, if you want to do more food prep/slicing tasks I would go with the FFG. If you want a small fixed blade you cannot go wrong with the Gryphon M10.

There’s some decent YouTube videos on them. They appear to be quality knives from all I have seen and heard. I have always wanted to try one, but have always bought something else instead.

I have the flat ground M10. It’s a great knife and sheath combo. The inner layer is VG10, outer layers are 420j2 as far as I know. For the price, they are great EDC fixed blades and sharpen nicely.
