I'm finishing up a camper, it has blued bolsters and brass pins holding them on, problem is, I still need to file the pins down which will scratch the bolsters....I knew I would be doing this, and the first coat of bluing was just to see if it was the look I was going for....but then it occured to me about the brass pins, what effects does bluing have on brass?
It's just your everyday cold bluing.

am I pretty much screwed on this one?
TIA Steve.

birchwood casey Perma Blue " will not blue stainless steel, aluminum or nonferrous metals."

Actually Birchwood may spot it here and there but nothing you cant polish back off , if you want to blacken brass they mnake a product aptly called Brass Black.

The Perma-Blue won't do much on brass/copper/bronze, but I use the Super-Blue to age that stuff all the time.

Thanks guys, I was just worried it would blue the pins too, I want them to stay bright for contrast.

Steve
