Are any of the multi-Tools that are specialized for maintaining guns worth buying? Are thy useful in the field.

I recognize that the optimal option is a workbench. proper vices and dedicated tools.

Do you spend a lot of time in the field with your guns? As in days or weeks at a time? Do you rely on that gun for food, without the option of just packing up and going home if it fails? If so, then yes, a specialized multi-tool makes some sense. Mostly they seem like a way for someone to part fools from their money.

A Victorinox cybertool lives in my range bag and has come in handy several times.

I have a no name multi tool that I got several years ago that I use in the field for minor maintenance care. I can’t remember where I got it, probably at a gun show . It’s a universal type with screw drivers that are hollow ground to prevent screw head damage or the finish on a nice gun. It has a couple pin punch drivers and a J shaped pry tool for extracting stuck casings and needle nose pliers. It’s not a end all tool but it has come in handy from time to time and it isn’t to large for pocket carry but I usually keep it in my day pack afield.

Leatherman has a series of gun- and archery-focused multi tools. I believe there’s one for the AR platform called the Rail, one for shotguns called the Pump, and one for archery called the Cam.

Edit: Looks like they’re all retired products.
