Anyone got any good websites or info where i can get a nice kukri? Something that can really take some damage. I was looking at the cold steel ones but i got turned off because it was made by cold steel.

I believe Himalayan Imports is the "most recommended" in the U.S.. They ship as fast as lightning too - on items that they stock shown at their website. Check out their forum as Brad Greulich suggested - it's in the Manufacuturers section in Blade Forums. I bought a 15" Sirupati and I'm in love with it. I don't think you can beat their quality.

If you can break it we'll send you two free. A good chopped and substitute prybar.

You won't find a better warranty !!!!

I also have a CS satin finish and it's quite a chopper but that warranty is not as good.

MY RESPONSE: I believe Bors is referring to what Himalayan Imports calls "Villager knives" - they have a roughed up looking blade (satin finish) and usually a plain looking handle - they're not the really pretty ones that they usually sell to us picky Americans. From what I've heard they are a bargain, don't have the lifetime warranty and come very very sharp. I'd say that either way you can't really lose with Himalayan Imports. People swear by their products and super service.

Actually I was referring to the Cold Steel Satin finished "Gurkha Kukri". Sorry for the confusion.

The villager knives are a bit rougher aesthetically speaking but still a good value from what I have read.

Why don't you try this site by Nepal's number one store called "Khukuri House Thamel". They are all handmade by black smiths from railways tracks or busses suspension spring called Hi carbon steel and all tempered. They hold its edges very good. Sharpening is no problem also.

rubbish, no quality control...;)

Ive got an army service model and its great... horn handle is gorgeous with no cracks and the blade is very heavy and thicker then i expected but chops like a mofo and i can get it pretty sharp considering the thickness of the blade. pretty good value in my opinion.
