Does anyone have instructions on how to gut paracord? I would like to try wrapping my Izual with it.

Thanks,

super easy, if your refering to removing the center. simply cut both ends, and you should see the 7 inner cords in white, just start pulling them loose. very simple. hope this helped.

bingo. just cut the ends and they come out very easily. that's if you have actual paracord though, if you have some of the garbage nylon knock offs, you'll have a bit more trouble removing the innards.

First, you make an incision from the lower belly of the paracord up to the rib cage...

I always unweave the outer layer of the paracord, take out the strands and then weave it back together, but you can just pull them out? :D

I saw some survival bracelets the other day but noticed they had been gutted. I was wondering what the point was. In survival situation the inner cord would be of tremendous use.

Compactibility when used for making a bracelet, box knot etc.

I make the bracelets with box knots & never seemed to have a problem. For the reason to have a survival bracelet is for the need of cordage in a survival situation. If I have decreased my capabilities because I want a flatter knot then I believe I have made a poor choice. I guess I am more function than looks. Perhaps that is people think my ma dresses me funny

My reason for the original question was simply because I liked the way it looked. I am not so concerned about survival issues with the wrap on my Izula. If I am going out hunting or in the woods I have extra cord in my pack.
