Hi All,
I am intrigued by these. Thinking about the higher end version with S30V steel for pocket carry. Any one know what the quality level might be? Also, for general use, which is the blade design to get - straight, cat claw, tiger claw or hybrid? Many thanks.

Maybe post some pics, so we know, which knives you are talking about?

I have one and these knives aren't really made for "general use," the design is specifically for self defense and doesn't really led itself to daily utility work. I mean you can do so, but it's not optimal.

They're making these again? IIRC they went under and screwed some customers that had already paid for knives that were never delivered.
Your right. They have a checkered history, but have been back in operation for some time. They are active and responsive on Instagram.

Interesting thread.
Show me your solid ideas for safe crossing plane entrance, please.

I would stay far, far away. Got one years ago and ended up with the wrong size. Tried to contact them to get something figured out and no one ever answered in any form, tried email and phone repeatedly and got nothing.

I’m not a huge fan of Emerson knives....but the LaGriffe is the knife you are looking for in this category.

Always liked that knife, just not the company. Myself, I have a Spyderco SWICK lashed to my backpack straps for when I ride my bike, and I'm definitely eagerly awaiting the new SWICK in LC200N with the slightly larger finger hole.

Thankfully, there are now some La Griffe options that aren't Emerson. Perrin Knives offers quite a few and it's been awhile since I looked, but if memory serves they're less expensive than the Emerson version.

Hi Everyone,
I have the La Griffe and several generations of Swick. Will probably get the new one. You, know how it is, this HAK is on my bucket list. They have a Paul Bos treated knife in stock that seems to be the right size. Will pull the trigger.

Ahh. Let us know when you get it and how you like it. I had never heard of it until this thread.

Good luck. Hopefully they've either changed ownership or the previous owners decided to get their act together. I sincerely hope it all goes smoothly, but I'll admit that I'm a bit worried for the sake of you and your money.

Yep, I was one of those that got screwed over. Never got my knife. However, I was contacted by the new owner/operator a few years later, and finally got what I had ordered and paid for (some of the details are foggy, it's been a good while, ~15 years, since this happened). Straight edge in S30V iirc. I was shocked to say the least.

Probably the timeframe (~3 years?) when they were out of business.

Already have the new SWICK in LC200N on pre-order! :D Can't wait! The finger hole in the previous iteration was too small for me, but I liked the design.

I had one on my whitewater PFD for a while. Laid the vest down riverside on a break and the sun heated the Kydex to the point the knife fell out into the river. Didn't like it enough to replace it. I use a Gerber River Runt now.--KV

i have one of the older hideaway knives, and while it was ok i feel the la griffe was better, it felt better in the hand for me.

also there is a knife i have seen recently called the kley-zion titanium talon, i dont have one but it doesnt look bad and is cheaper than the la griffe, may be another option worth considering. it comes in two sizes.

I have owned three. A Cat Claw in titanium, a straight in 440c and a tiger claw in 440c. All have been given away as gifts over time (ladies love 'em.)

It is a really good design and of top quality fit and finish. I bought my last one in 2016. Not sure how they are these days. I have been wanting to pick one up but with the company's track record, I am wary. For the record, both William and Frontsight were a pleasure to deal with in my experience and I had no issues whatsoever. I am not sure who is in charge of the company now. I did get an email from the company earlier this year stating they were back in production, or the like. I may follow up further. I really like the design. It is the only knife small enough I'd ever consider for neck carry.

In the earlyn year they were great and then they got too successful and couldn't deliver. The original business changed hands and appears to be reliable now.
