Hello folks!

I’m interested in acquiring a Spyderco Manix 2 XL, but unfortunately I won’t be able to get it in-hand before purchase. My concern is that the handle might be a bit too cramped for my mitts, so I turn to the experts here first..

Two knives I’ve owned and had to give up for that reason are the Spyderco Caribbean and Cold Steel AD10. The shape of all three handles (to my untrained eye) have similarities, so I was wondering if any of you fine folks can speak to whether the M2XL handle is more roomy than the others?

Any input is appreciated!

Some people with large hands love the Manix 2 XL. I am not one of those. I have baseball mitts for hands and I find the hook on the back of the handle a problem for my little finger. I like the Straight Spine Stretch a lot, though.

My goodness, how gigantor are your hands? I wear XL gloves, palms are around 4" square, my skinny fingers are close to 4" for the long ones, and I find a Manix 2 fits my hands just about right- but so does a Delica.

I don't own any of the knives you're asking about, unfortunately. From looking at specs, if a Caribbean handle was too short I think the Manix XL handle might be too- that big hook end cuts down on the usable handle length. If you're always in the choil it's probably less of a deal.

Doesn't look like there's more room on the Manix XL handle to me.

I own both the Manix 2 XL and the AD 10.
The grip area of the Manix is longer, so there is plenty of room. I cannot fill it with my hand, yet it fills the AD 10's handle completely. On the other hand, the AD 10 is way more ergonomic due to its thicker and rounded scales.
The biggest problem for me is the standard clip on the Manix. Instant hot spot, so I changed it immediately.

I hope, this helps.

Oddly, I actually have these exact 2 knives with me (at work). I will open and side by side em, when I make it to a good place/time. However, your post reaffirmed what I was pretty sure I remembered - the end of the M2XL's grip area is FURTHER away from my pinky than on the AD10 (like it gives me MORE room than I need) but it is nowhere near as ergonomic. I am not crazy about the AD10. Have one, keeping it, don't use it often. I will say, tho - I don't know if a folding knife ever fit my hand so well. I've felt some nice FB's but as far as folders go, the AD10 is amazing while the M2XL is jimped everywhere and (yes) has that stab you clip. It is my EDC tho, love the knife.
