So, I once again watched "Hannibal" (the movie) and just noticed that Hannibal is holding what looks like Spyderco Civilian or Matriarch in his hand before he asks Inspector Patxi (who he is about to hang by tossing him over the balcony railing: "Bowels in or bowels out?" He, of course, chose bowels out. LOL!

It's one of the great movie lines and great movie moments! ;)

PS: Sorry but this was the best pic of the clip that I could find on the Net. If you can find one better, please post it. And, if anyone has a different opinion about which model knife it is, you're welcome to state it.

Disembowling a cop is a great movie moment?

There was a lot that led up to that scene and it is a "great movie moment" because it's classic and memorable moment in the horror/shock/murder movie genre because of the "entirety" of the scene and what led up to the disembowling.

BTW, the cop was CORRUPT because he was personally trying to cash-in on a bounty on Hannibal Lecter rather than disclosing the info he knew to Starling and the FBI. So, IMO, he should have known the risks of trying to do that and, since he wasn't as smart as Hannibal, he got what he deserved IMO.

Yes, in this movie. It's a horror movie. What, would you prefer the cop take control of the situation, order him to his knees and arrest him without issue? It is not a great scene BECAUSE it's a cop specifically - coulda been an orderly, anyone. It's great because it's shocking.

That's like me saying to a Friday the 13th fan, "So, your idea of fun is watching a bunch of teenaged girls go to the woods, party, have sex and get slaughtered one by one?" lol like yes, roasting the sleeping bag over the fireplace and slamming it into a tree till the human is pulp? That's a creative kill! It would suck if the only moment of the movie I am allowed to enjoy was Jason being beaten. Or asking why I laugh when causing carnage in a video game that would make me retch in reality.

It's called conflict, eh? I suppose Dirty Harry woulda been better if he was never beat up by Scorpio. Ya need to know the difference between reality and fiction - sorry if you have had something happen to make it extra personal to you. I don't watch movies about burning houses/disasters for the same reason.

But to be clear, yeah, great, famous scene, hanging a cop with his guts with such style, do not know how you could see otherwise.

Silence of the Lambs is more than a horror film. It’s a mystery and a mainstream film. I’ve seen the movie more than once and always feel sorry that Hannibal is forever linked with Spyderco.

It’s a movie tradition for European police to not cooperate with the FBI. The Inspector was a sympathetic character for many who did not deserve disembowlment.

I'm a retired cop and I had absolutely no sympathy for Patxi. He wasn't just not cooperating w/the FBI. He was acting in deriliction of his duty as an LEO to provide info to an allied agency about a fugitive they were seeking.

Hannibal played him like a fish. The gave him advance notice of his demise by showing him the print of his ancestor who died in the same manner which should have been a tip off to Patxi to get the f*ck out of there but he was stupid and died as his ancestor did, as Hannibal had planned.

As far as the connection to Spyderco is concerned, it is trival and most people wouldn't even notice it. I've watched the movie more times than I can count and it was only last week that I noticed the knife.

Yes a plain edge harpy. There are rotten apples in every occupation. As a former LEO i have 0 respect for anyone who taints the uniform.

But they didn't show what knife he used to stab that unlucky guy who tried (unsuccessfully) to take his wallet and fingerprints (successfully.)

Well, it's a movie. Granted a very good one, but still a movie.
Hannibal Lecter was/is portrayed with a immaculate sense of style and quite good manners (if he doesn't want to eat you)

Him using a Spyderco in this movie shows the props department had looked at the market and found that the Harpy has the looks and the style that is needed for this character.
I enjoyed the movie when I saw it and thought: Yeah, a Spyderco fits....

He also uses it to cut the femoral artery of the guy that collected his fingerprint. I was thinking matriarch or harpy.

The inspector my be a sympathetic character for dirty cops. I can’t imagine many others feeling that way.
