I'm in the market for a new, hard use, auto. I like Benchmades, and they are local to me, so I'm trying to narrow it down between these two. I cut, pry, and scrape with my knives (not to the breaking point). I had an original AFO and liked it, and I had a Presidio Auto for a short time, before it got stolen, and liked it too, maybe more, because of the AXIS lock. I think the button on the AFO II is faster to deploy, but could be wrong. What way should I go?!

Wow! That is impressive! I think I may have to go buy one...the tanto/serrated is calling me.

I've owned an AFO for many years (15 if memory serves me well) and it gets my vote. I do like the presidio however but I traded it off. I love the axis lock but I prefer the manual version.

I love the Presidio, it's a tank and the ergos are great. Its my go to Axis lock knife.

That being said I prefer an auto to be a push button. The Axis lock IMO is best suited as a manual lock where it's benefits really stand out.

I've owned and vigorously used both. Both work as hard use folders. I have to say though, after my past experiences the Presidio is what I carry every day. I love them both. What has made me stick with the Presidio is.......I have had very small amounts of grit get in the push button mechanism on the AFO 2. Not that it stops the knife from working, i just had an experience where the blade closed on me when I thought it was locked....the button didn't raise all the way up. Yes this was a very dirty and muddy environment. but that experience helped me lean towards the Presidio. ....it was easier to clear of grit. Hope this helps.

Prefer the 5000. Less bulky, better blade shape IMO, didn't think I would warm up the the axis auto but I've come to appreciate it. 5000 also has better pivot and lock IMO as well. I like the AFO but theres other autos would take over it.
