Thanks for that. I'm not that far off the ground.Personally speaking, I'd always elect for 28" over 24". minus 4" makes a pretty significant change in my swing.

Me, too. You can do real work with a boys axe on a 28" handle. A 24" axe is weak by comparison.Personally speaking, I'd always elect for 28" over 24". minus 4" makes a pretty significant change in my swing.
Have you given any thought to a larger hatchet head hung on a longer than average handle? I rehung a modified TommyAxe on a homemade black locusts handle and I'm quite happy with it. Very light for carrying around but can also do some good work. That said I also have a few council tool Boys axes and absolutely love them.
I've long been a proponent of hanging a light head on a long handle to increase its power while keeping it light and manueverable. This makes a multi-purpose tool great for camping and bushcraft.Have you given any thought to a larger hatchet head hung on a longer than average handle?
I've got a less than optimal 36 inch straight haft that's a little warped.I've long been a proponent of hanging a light head on a long handle to increase its power while keeping it light and manueverable. This makes a multi-purpose tool great for camping and bushcraft.
Why not heat it up and straighten it?I figure if I don't like It I can trim off the warped part and get back to a more 'standard' boys axe length.
You’re an ideas guy, SP, that’s what I like about you.Why not heat it up and straighten it?
