I intend on creating a heatable chef or santoku knife for increased cutting power as well as better cleaning properties.

I have connections with friends that want to help me with the invention, so the matters of safety and other problems shouldn't concern you, unless for some reason that is technically unviable.

What kind of steel would you recommend for a stamped blade that can heat up using a battery, to the point of being able to cut fish straight from the freezer?

I don't see why you couldn't take an electric carving knife like this, cut the cord, bypass the motor, and hook it directly to the blade.

It should get hot pretty quick!

Cutting fish directly from a freezer ?
Using knife whats heated ?? If frozen solid, Short answer, its not going to work.
You can saw frozen fish, or chop with cleaver or axe... In all fairness, you might be able to shave off chips, but you wont be cutting steaks or fillets.
Dont just take my word for it. Try for yourself and the benefit of your investors. Get some kind of kitchen knife and method to heat its blade, torch for example.
Some frozen fish or any frozen meat will do. Just see for yourself what it takes to cut any meat whats frozen.

Well, i will leave the “does it work” up to you. How hot are we talking? 200, 300? You will need a handle that can “handle” that. Are you wanting an edge? I temper my Cpm154 at 550 degrees so, in theory, I don’t see why 200-300 would hurt it. Do as Lieblad suggests and try it first.

This was a general ideal, that's why I asked first if this is even achievable. So, it isn't even possible to achieve that kind of sharpness towards a frozen meat, right? In general, having multiple bladed tools that have switchable blades and operate on a single heat source aren't out of question there. If it takes more than a knife, what would it take then?

Also, Matt, your signature has one of best quotes made by humanity ever.

Bandsaw or cleaver. Heating a blade will unfreeze the cut areas.
It is not meant to enable refreezing the other part, rather than just be able to effortlessly cut it in portions while still frozen, speeding up the process.

+1 on bandsaw. No need to reinvent the wheel. But innovation favors the daring. Nothing can be gained from something not tried.

Yes, this makes a couple of early April Fools posts..... OR - is the OP thinking this is a serious question

Your one day early

Not early if you are in the Orient or Australia...They are a day ahead

You know wat would be funny is if he was serious o_O

I know this is an early AF post, but think about it guys! Not only do you cut frozen food, but you can cook it while it's cutting... Maybe swap the knife design for a sharpened fork or a spoon, and you can go directly to eating each individual cut. Just imagine the time savings?!
I caution you about making the design too efficient however, as you don't want to push the microwave into complete obsolescence... Or DO you?!

cut slots in the blade so it will look like grill marks when finished
