Inspired by Vaporstang's very spartan Plain-Jane 21 with nice leather lanyard, I went to the craft shop today and got some leather of my own.

Tied myself a Reeve snake-knot and really like it:

Feel free to add any leather lanyard creations of your own, or if you are one of the lucky ones to own a leather-inlay Sebenza, post that too.

Pretty sweet. I've been going back and forth on this idea every time I see a pic with a leather lanyard. This may put me over the top. Looks great, you tied it perfect as well:thumbup:

I used thinner boot lace stock and skeined the lace a bit for the last 2" so I could thread the lanyard post. My knots are a barrel knot with a figure eight as the terminus.

If you want any other photos or to know how to tie it, let me know.

It's nice to know I inspired someone! I've never been able to tie a CRK style lanyard with leather and make it look right - maybe I am too impatient.

Nice work BillK and thanks Lemmuhj. Still loving that knife of yours Vapor.

I think there is something that really works with the plain Ti knives and the leather lanyard. Grey and brown look good together, and it adds some warmth and colour to the cold metal of the plain-jane Sebby, without it getting too busy or losing the simplicity. The simple leather also fits with the "knife is a tool" philosophy of the plain CRK knives.

I like the look of the leather lanyard. I may have to try this for myself.

Leather lanyards all the way on knives! Except I can't have ANY lanyards on my CRK's.

Mine is, yes.

Keep in mind there are different thicknesses. I recently picked up a set for "outdoor" usage and they were thinner than the ones for the common "boat" shoe. They are available in a multitude of shades, ranging from black through brown to light tan, I'm sure you could even find colored leather laces if you looked online.

Even though I used the thinner ones for my large 21, it still barely fit the lanyard post and I had to thin the last 2", so I could fit that through then use that to pull the full thickness through. The skeined part was then discarded after I used it for threading my knots.

Thanks Kid, Great job yourself! I don't know how hard it must have been working that snake tight, my hands cramp every time I tie a barrel and they in essence, self tighten for the last bit.
Regarding the leather lanyard, I couldn't have said it better myself! I love a leather lanyard on a knife, I think it goes in the compete opposite direction often associated with the whole "tacticool" assessment often attributed to the paracord lanyards.

I buy a combination of boot laces and some of it I buy from hobby lobby. I like the looks of the hobby lobby stuff better but like the size of the boot lace material.

Judas Priest reference. :)

Actually a very old saying from the 1800s that alludes to the leather of a horses saddle, but yes it is also the title of a noteworthy metal album.

My grandpa used to say it all the time and I don't thing he listened to much 'Priest, but you never know.

A couple days of pocket time on the leather-lanyarded 25. I like the way the leather is wearing in. Certainly makes the knife a little more "down home" or rustic looking. It also gives another surface to show wear, which I like, For a "no lanyard" guy, I am surprised to think this might be staying.

As anyone who has tried knows, it is notoriously hard to photograph CRK "snail trails". Even the most beat-up Sebby might look pristine through the camera lens, especially when taking pictures outdoors. This 25 of mine has some of the nicest use marks in my collection. The photo does it some justice:

I've got a large plain 21 with ladder Damascus coming and I can't wait to tie some leather on it! I love leather on all my other knives, but somehow I think this one will be totally awesome with it.

Bradtown 1/8" lace. Here you can see the difference between 1/8" and 3/16". The 3/16 is to small/thin for my taste.
1/8" is pretty much square. Anything smaller will flatten out
