Hi, all. I'm looking for a Wharncliffe with the following properties:
  • Fixed blade
  • Production or custom
  • Preferably priced under $150 (NO HIGHER THAN $200!)
  • Blade length of 3" AT MOST
  • Kydex or Concealex sheath
  • Plain edge

Mickey Yurco is already whipping something up for me, but I want more than one of course :D I'd love to get my hands on a Snody, but that seems pretty impossible.

So what is out there that fits my needs?
I already have two Neck PECKS which are pretty cheap but still good knives. I'm looking for something nicer, and larger too.

Jeff Diotte has some pieces I'm very interested in. Anyone know anything about his knives?http://bladeart.com/artists/jeff_diotte/jeff_diotte.htm

Check out the knives that L6Steel has been selling in the knifemakers' corner.

Actually have one in process right now that I think woiuld meet those requirements. Would have to measure blade to be sure, as if it does meet requirements, pretty much at max there
well, unless I cheat on grind and just leave really big ricasso. :)

check out terry hearns knives I don't have his web address but just do a search for either T L hearn or Terry Hearn that should getyou there.

Check with Win Heger, his email is Win Heger and ask him if he has any of these left, very nice wharncliffish type knives!

This one has ATS-34 with about a 3 1/2" blade.

The Neck PECK got me interested in Wharncliffe blades and I´m waiting for the Spyderco/Snody Ronin to be released, so I gotta "third" this opinion.

jefroman, Nosamk, and Quiet Storm,
you guys have to read my post better :p I've been looking for a Snody Wharncliffe like crazy but can't find one anywhere. I'm itchin for a Ronin real bad (or a Facilitator for that matter). If you guys know where I can get one then let me know. No one has them in stock!

Thanks for the other suggestions guys!

The pieces by L6Steel look great and they're priced amazingly! My only complaint from looking at the pictures is that his sheaths cover so much of the handle. Maybe I'll drop him a line though and see if I can work something out with him.

Oh, and BTW, I will surely pick up a Spyderco Ronin when they become available but I'm not a patient man and I've been bitten by the custom bug as of late.

I recommended the Spydie version, so maybe you should read my posts better. :p ;)

Check out R.W. Clark. Definitely in your price range with a lot of extras for the buck IMO. Differentially treated O-1 blade with temper line, rayskin with epoxy wrap in your choice of colors. The blades take a razor edge very easily and hold it well. Here is a pic of the standard MAU, I have seen these in a wharncliffe

Ron is great to deal with and can pretty much do whatever it is you want done. His Kydex work is really as nice as I have seen and carry just about anywhere you care to strap them. IWB, crossdraw is my favorite for my 3 1/2" MAU.

Good luck.
