Hey guys, so I recently came across this Case Hobo but, as I am not really a traditional guy, I'm not really sure how much its worth. I looked around online but really couldn't find anything just like it. If someone could just give me an idea of what its worth I would greatly appreciate it. Sorry for the bad pics.

Made in 2000. Used. Sheath but no box, so I am guessing user-grade. Rough guess - $50 to $100 unless you find a Hobo collector who is missing that particular one and isn't looking for NIB.

Edit: After looking at some completed listings on Ebay for similar knives, I think more towards the lower end of that range might be reasonable. There were several 6254 HB knives priced at $100 that did not sell. A really pretty 1999 version in Chestnut bone went for $60.

It's not really that popular of a pattern, so again, depends heavily on whether the right buyer is looking right when you are trying to sell.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't a user, and if it was it probably wasn't used much. Thanks though, that really helps.

If it was new in box, with box and papers, never used, sharpened, or carried, and you threw in the sheath (which are still made and cost about $12 new), you could probably list it on the 'bay for $80-ish and hope for some higher bids. A few sold for around $110. Just dig around in the completed/sold listings using the model number and description. If you put it up for $60 it would probably sell for sure, just not sure how much higher than that it would get.

You can try it here on the Exchange and save the E-bay fees, but of course you have to pick a price and hope you got it right versus let bidders set the price.

Keep in mind, these are just my observations and opinions. I am not a Case Hobo collector and don't know the relative rarity or desirability of that particular model. Maybe wait for others to chime in before making any decisions if you were looking to sell it. For insurance or estate valuation purposes, maybe $120 based on what it would possibly cost you to replace it if you had to find one on the open market today.

Tang stamp appears to indicate year 2000 manufacture (see link below). Should be easy enough to find similar examples on the 'auction site' for selling prices; they're not uncommon. Search for pattern # 6254HB SS. I doubt there's much, if any real appreciation in value, over the original selling prices for these.

List it on the exchange for $50 and watch it fly. I bet you bought it for $5 at a garage sale 😁

I have a lovely two colored, cigar band example, with spoon as well. I'd sell it in a heart beat, but strangely out of all my knives, that's the one my wife likes best. Go figure.
Thanks, Neal

Did that one not come with the spoon? Odd. New they run about $75-80 - I don't know that this one is particularly collectible except, as mentioned to a specialist.

There have been versions with and without the spoon. Currently all they are making are the spooned variety.

I think the Hobo originally didn't offer the spoon anyway. I have a 1999 'Vintage Stag' Hobo (V5254HB SS) with only the knife & fork. At the time I bought it, I don't recall even seeing the spoon versions anywhere; so I'm assuming they came sometime later.
