Help needed finding a wood bandsaw blade

I need to find a source for wood bandsaw blades. My bandsaw takes a 83 and one half inch diameter blade. This seems to be a odd size and needs to be custom made.
For years I have used the Buckeye Saw Co. in Cincinnati Ohio to make these blades for me. It seems though that they have gone out of business. Their phone numbers don't work, and directory assistance couldn't help.
If you can provide some sources, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Tom Lewis

Hi Lewis,

Check out my website. I show you how to weld your own bandsaw blades in the "shop tips" area. With that in mind, you can buy a longer blade and make it to length or buy blades in bulk and be set for years. Anyway, making your own blades really opens up the options and saves $ when it comes to paying for specials.

I hope this helps

Sincerely,

Rob, can bandsaw blades be welded with a wire feed welder??

L6,

I actually "braze: the blades together. I've tried to "weld" them but have never had any luck. I have a TIG welder and I must say that the welding process on .030" thick material for me is very delicate. Even when I had some nice welds, I found that they were very brittle...probably due to the high carbon steel. No luck post tempering either. Anyway, I've fought with it for a while until I gave up for the easier "brazing: tech. Maybe your MIG will do the trick, I dunno.

For me the brazing is very quick especially if you set up to do 4 or 5 blades at a time. If you break one, just roll it up and save it untill you set up to make more.
