These old inexpensive kitchen scissors have been used for about 20 years. The blades are slightly chipped and could use sharpening.
However, I can not tell if they can be taken apart. The pivot is capped by a blue plastic cover on both sides.
Does anyone know if they can be "popped" off? Or is there some othre method without destroying these blue caps?
Looked all over the internet and found nothing. Thanks for any advice.

Had a similar Wusthof and underneath after practically destroying the cap there was a rusted hex screw that was either severely corroded blocking the hex hole or was epoxied. Impossible to remove. They had gotten too loose and could not be tightened.

Thanks, I was afraid that was the case. I'm not allowed to destroy the cap so I guess I'm SOL.

Not all that expensive just get a take apart version for little stuff and a heavy duty poultry shear for spatchcocking

Thanks. Already have an unused take-apart made in Sanjo under Kagayaki brand. Going to tell the wife that the Henckels is shot,
stop making my life difficult and just crack out the new scisssors.

I have a similar set from them (not the same) which originally had a red cap instead of the blue one. The red cap came out long ago revealing a flat-slotted screw that could be used to tighten the pivot or disassemble it.

It was just held in via friction fit and did not require massive effort to remove it if I recall. Just need to work something in under the edge and lift it up.

Thank you. Although I had given up, I took your suggestion and indeed the blue plastic covers on both sides came off. Howver, what was under them was a pivot screw with one side dome headed, and the other side with a cap, giving it a "rivited" look.
in other words, no slot for a screwdriver or nut for a wrench.

These are photos of each side. I can not see any way to take this pivot out. If someone recognizes this and does please let me know. Thanks.

Probably better that you took the plastic cap off...now it is cleanable and you won't have an area that catches bacteria.

I don’t see that coming apart, but you should be able to sharpen them while still together - just open them up wide and do your best to sharpen as close to the pivot as possible…
