Right then. After years of mucking about on the fringes, here is my first completed blade - a paring knife for my chef bro-in-law, who has promised to subject it to, ahem, “rigorous testing”.
3mm O1 tool steel, 4” blade, 8” OAL, handle is Purple Heart, green fibreboard, and an Ash burl (from my garden) held together with brass rod. Made with files, sandpaper, a knackered grinding wheel, my drill and a Dremel. Heat-treated in my two-brick, and quenched in veg oil.
It’s silly-sharp, so it’s functional, but my aim is to improve fit and finish for the next one. Got lots of supplies on the way...
