So the wife just got a set of HexClad pots and pans. It came with one knife. It claims to be damascus, I believe chef's knife. Was wondering if anyone has any experience with any of those knives. It seems to feel decent and is relatively sharp. But looking at the blade it is hard to tell if it is really damascus because the layer lines dissapear pretty far from its edge. Farther than what I have seen in my experience with damascus. Yes I have a few damascus blades. Not an expert by any means. I guess it could just be the thin angle grind. Anyway, I have no clue how goood these knives are. Would like to get her the set with it's magnetic block. But they are pricey, and I know I can get other brands that I know are good. Just may spend a bit more. Its for the wife. And the 20 year old daughter loves to use the cheap ones we have now and not clean them. At all. Then grabs a second clean one, ten minutes later. Blah!! She will be out of vet school in 2 years. Already helping with the pups.

But any thoughts on their knives though? No specs online of what steels are in the damascus. The pots and pans are awesome.

I can't imagine you'll find many holding them in high regard around these parts. I've only heard of the brand in passing, as I prefer to cook on good ole stainless/carbon/cast-iron. However a quick look at the knives gives me a strong infomercial vibe, and the lack of specs in favor of marketing is a huge red flag (for instance, if they don't state where they're made, you know where they're made ). At that price you can get some great kitchen knives from respectable makers/companies. IMO, the only reason they would be worth it is if they would make your wife happy, and if that's the case then no man can argue with that.
