Currently own the zt 0562 cf, normally dont like folders but love this knife. Solid as hell and built like a tank with such smooth action. Are the hinderer knives worth the extra cost over the zt? Obviously the zt is designed by hinderer, and the particular hinderer I was looking at was pretty much identical to the zt other than obviously handle material, fasteners and blade steel. Just wondering if it's worth almost double the cost over the 562

I have a 0562cf for some times now
It is a great knife but the ergonomics doesn’t work so good with me.
I would have like to have more thickness to the handle

when the gen 6 was released I got a slicer non skinny XM-18 3.5
For the price I have not been impressed
For sure it is a more robust knife, but IMO it was not worth the extra money, and honestly for me the flipper tab was just annoying
it sent it back and found a gen 4 non flipper instead
This non flipper is great and I would recommend it 100% of time over the ZT

If you are into flippers, I would recommend the no choil non skinny flipper XM-18 3.5 version of the Hinderer

the Hinderer are better made knives but for what you get the ZT is better

that being said, I am keeping my non flipper Hinderer and letting go the ZT ;)

mid you are looking for an EDC go ZT, if you want to use and abuse your knife then go Hinderer either a no choil flipper or a non flipper with choil

go for the the grind you like most
If the thin handle doesn’t bother you give a look to the skinny skinner XM-18 exclusive from USAmade blade

The answer will be very subjective but IMO yes - Hinderer XM-18 3.5" slicer (regular or skinny) is worth the extra $ as compared to ZT 0562CF. I had multiples of each and still have two ZT 0562cf and two XM-18 3.5" slicer (a gen 4 on PB washers and a tri-way skinny). All of them are great great ti flippers and I love them all. But in terms of ergo, gimpings, strength (though not the skinny version), aesthetics, and build quality, Hinder is one level up. Again, whether it is $165 more worth is completely up to each individual person.

I like them both. If I had to keep one it would be the hinderer. Dont get me wrong the zt is a awesome blade too. I was skeptical for a long time but find more joy in using and owning a hinderer than a zt 0562. There are more options in XMs as far as scales, finishs, blade shapes, and aftermarket parts. I also like that it is a flat head for the pivot. One thing you might not like though is the thicker blade stock. Pick one up for cheaper on the exchange or trading forum and see how you like it. Cheers!

I like the ZT 0562-Ti. The anodized version from USAMadeBlade has a nice feel compared to the plain ones. Just a bit of tack to them.
The Hinderer below is a Skinny XM-18. I prefer the Skinny XM-24.

Another nice knife is the Spyderco Amalgam, but it's more of a typical Spyderco design than an overbuilt folder. It's about the same size as the XM-24 but easier to EDC.

I have the ZT562Ti, XM18 3.5 and 3, and I think the answer is 'it depends'.

Comparing ZT562Ti vs XM18, I think XM18 is "over-jimped". I really love the aesthetic and the design for XM18, and the intricate details are great. But all these aggressive jimpings has kept them from being my all time favorite.

I have tried to put the XM18s in harder use, but all these jimpings will constantly dig and rip into my hand.(unless your hands are heavy callused and enjoy doing push up on a durian, then more power to you) The worst jimping is the one right under the flipper tab which is a real nail puller if you are not 'light switching', it is most obvious on XM18 3" due to it smaller flipper tab, and slightly better for XM18 3.5".

As you probably know, 562 being a ZT has pretty decent flipping action, I think it is better than Gen6 my XM18 3.5" or 3". I still like my XM18s for collection purposes, but just not top candidates for EDC use.

I did ZT 0562 once it was really nice, and that led to just one Hinderer, and then just one more would be the last one ...
Anyways yes , I say they are worth the extra money.
