Not sure why they do it, but every XM I’ve ever bought new came with the clip in the tip down orientation. I immediately switch it

Me too. And the knives that can’t be switched - Full Track, Half Track etc come tip-up only, thank goodness.

Regarding tip down from the factory, I think they just do it for the perverse joy of watching us forumites pull our hair out trying to figure out the reason.

Sweet! How is the disengagement on it? Easy to access?

Disengagement is a little tough at times, the show side scale is the same as the other scale, it should have been recessed a little more, like the liner is.

The flipper tab is really pokey. I don't want to say sharp because it's chamfered and there are no truly sharp edges, but it's Hinderer's standard flipper tab sized down to where it really digs into your fingertip. Combined with the very hard detent, I'm starting to develop a callus on my finger from this knife. I'm hoping the detent will break in a little over time.
