So I've decided that I want a hip flask but have no idea where to find a good one and figured someone here might know.

Specifically, I want one that has a glass lining inside so that I can keep stuff in there longer. My searches online so far have yielded what appear to be simple, cheap all metal ones or places based in Europe. Anyone that can point me in a direction to go shopping at?

I found mine at an upscale tobacco store in a mall. I think it was called the "Tinderbox" cool store, kinda place a guy can get lost in for a few hours while the ladies are shopping. Owner of the shop I went to even had a couple bottles of scotch and brandy behind the counter for his regulars. a snifter and a cigar. life doesnt get much better then that at a mall. good luck

Ive just ordered a Simpsons one with 4 shot glasses, and the flask is inscribed with Homer Simpson declaring "To Alcohol! Cause of & Solution to all of lifes problems!" LOL

Gave up searching stores in my area. I did manage to find one online store that sold flasks primarily made of plexiglass though, which should meet my need to not have issues with corrosion and the metal affecting the flavor of the drink. Hopefully it's not going to bring in another set of problems, not quite as familiar with acrylic as I am with metal.

May I ask why someone would want a flask for in the first place? In my thinking, you are wanting hide your alcohol, and perhaps take it places you shouldn't or at times when you shouldn't have alcohol in the first place. I am just curious! I am open minded, so please educate me on flasks. Please and thank you!

Check ebay... I bought quite a few from them for myself and gifts. All qualities and price ranges there.

A lot of people like to have a nip now and then. Usually while traveling. I know a lot of people who do this.

I've gone back and forth on this myself. I'd like to have a small flask to take with me ice fishing, hiking, or X-C skiing for a little sip when I'm taking a break. Flasks make nice little carriers and then you're not dragging a whole fifth with you!

I think it's also a statement: I like my "X" so much (X=scotch, brandy, Whiskey, Bourbon, Mad-Dog) so much, I carry it with me wherever I go! An alcohol snob kinda thing. Like the cigar smokers who carry the 2, 3, or 4 cigar pocket humidors...

I'm Mormon, if other Mormons find out I have booze, they will drink it all. :D
Anything else?

When you don't drink beer and instead favor stronger drink, the default containers aren't often easy to transport. A 750 mL bottle is kind of overkill to carry around yet much more economical than the smaller bottles of the stuff sold that would fit in a pocket. Plus, said bottles can shatter if struck or fallen upon and shards of glass are not something you want hanging around your upper leg.

Plus, they often look pretty and can double as a small canteen.

Thank you gentlemen!! I DO appreciate the responses. All your answers make sense to me.

I carry a small flask i got as a present for being a guy's wedding party some years ago. its silver plate with a leather wrap and its about 8 ounces. Google Flasks,

I also have a couple of plastic ones that sometimes travel on camping trips, not to worry about putting a dent in one. The better plastic ones do not flavor the liquor.

as to why i carry one, Football games, they want 9 bucks for a beer, and I would prefer a Beam and coke,

camping, just a touch in the evening tea is wonderful/.

concerts see above.

sometimes it a man thing too, out on the golf course, you just show off a bit when you have your own 18 year old scotch and a havana or two.

if you get pewter, make sure its not from china or the like, they use lead in making their pewter and it will leach into the spirits

Not being 21 I can't enjoy the benefits of carrying a flask full of hard liquor, but I think a flask would be great to carry water, or even some flavored drink, although I can't think of anything particularly good right about now.

I got a pretty cool Jim Beam Black one that came with a fifth I bought last year
I had never owned a flask before....This one is stainless steel
I thought I was being all smart and decided to fill it up and let it sit for a week or so
You know..To "season" it...
So I'm looking on ebay
I see my same Jim Beam Black flask for sale...This one has instructions
I zoom in on the instructions and it says "DO NOT KEEP LIQUOR IN FLASK FOR MORE THAN 3 DAYS"!!!!
Why is this so?
Could the 3 day plus booze harm you?
Is it a matter of leaving a funky taste in the booze?

Funny thing is the dude who was selling it said "RARE!!! HARD TO FIND!!!!"
That made me LOL..................

I have a nice "SS" flask from a wedding. Nice size at 5oz, but do not store for more that 2 or 3 days. Screw it all, I bought 6 Nalgene Flasks for myself and to give to friends. The best!! 12 oz, won't hold taste or spoil, and not glass. They are great!! if you can get past that they are plastic... best there is as far as I'm concerened! Hey, I bought 6!! hth

I'm sure AG russells for men has them, can't vouch for it personally though.

Maybe Busse will make one out of Infi, of course you will have to set up for days and days on end waiting to catch them listed for sale at $400, or just buy one off the exchange the next day for $600.

I personally perfer a boot flask to a hip flask. A boot flask is taller and thinner. The design was orignally to go into a cowboy's boot. But, it also slips into a gentleman's vest pocket nicely.
