When comparing the Hogue Ritter RSK with the Benchmade Griptilian, I notice that the Griptilian is almost 3/4 of an ounce lighter. Does anyone know why that is, given that they are two versions of the same knife design? Is it the scales?

The Griptillian with grivory scales is definitely lighter. With G10 it is probably heavier. I really like the Hogue Ritter but i am becoming disillusioned by the chippy M390. I may try one in magnacut.

I prefer the Griptillian with Spydie hole in 30v with some aftermarket scales, I am not a fan of the BM plastic stock scales.

The action on the RSK is better IMO, but those stock scales eat jeans

Never an easy answer.

Agreed on your points of the G10 vs Grivory.

On a side note, on what did you experience chipping in M390?

Have you seen the tests by "outpost 76" on YT on the 20cv Ritter? He made a useful discovery IMO.

I was using it for a variety of stuff on a van camper conversion and at the end of the it had a bunch of tiny chips. I frequently use a BM Bailout or a GB2, both in M4 with no issues.

The Hogues use a different anchoring technique for the Axis "Cage", which is much stronger than Benchmade's, though i doubt neither could be broken in normal usage.

Both good knives IMO. On the Hogue site I prefer DRitter's Hogue model,
for the Grip, I used one in 154 CM for years, picked it up used from the Exchange, love it.
Tanto blade, half serrated. One of the best no gimmicks knives I had.

I got one in N680 but almost never used it, the steel isn't really what I was expecting to be,
doesn't hold much edge for what I'm using it... I will probably try to replace the blade with BM if I have time to deal with it...
