do you guys know anyway to hollow out bamboo or reeds because i try using a needle small knife and nothing works or fits the only other idea i have is to try and use coal burning any other ideas thanks

Try getting a stick thin enough to fit inside the bamboo, put some sand in and then spin the stick like a drill. The sand acts as a cutting medium. That works for hollowing yucca out anyway. But give it a whirl (pun!)

Really hot poker, like a coathanger heated with a blowtorch till red.

Works, but it stinks to high heaven.

If the bamboo is large enough, you can break out the diaphrams at the nodes with a squared off metal rod like a hunk of rebar. Just lift it up and ram it down a few times to knock out the majority of the diaphram (maybe rotating the bamboo to change the impact point inside the culm) before moving down to the next node.

How effective this is will depend on what you intend to use the hollowed-out tube for.
