Hi Everybody,

I know some of you do not venture out of this forum much so I thought I would show you all my Hog family this new-ish material.

Holstex, which is basically kydex with a cool 3 dimensional pattern to look like carbon fiber and it comes in clear (but the clear is a matte finish).

Cool stuff.

Do you feel any difference from kydex besides the color/texture? Retention, thickness, stiffness?

I like it David...
You sure have a lot of Pork Shanks, have you tried throwing them yet?

How does it compare in strength? I only ask because I am seeing only pancakes and I thought you were a taco man for blades less than 7". Either way, neat looking stuff and great work as always.

That loes look cool, the desert tan and the olive drab came out nice :thumbup:

VERY COOL...looking
Also curious about the characteristics (retention strength, noise, etc..) compared to kydex.

Thank you for all the complements.

Retention is the same
Strength seams to be the same if you get it in the .09" thickness
noise is a little more, I will explain;

When it first came out in the black color the texture was on both sides so it kind of made a zipping sound when you pulled the knife out fast.

I actually called the manufacture and expressed some concerns about noise and dust getting trapped in the little pockets of the texture. they said they would look into it. Well the new stuff is CF texture on one side and a matte finish on the other, much more quite than before.

As to the no taco sheaths, well it was recommended to do everything pancake style but I have made holsters and a taco sheath out of the stuff and it works fine, just no pics yet.

No Rattle Hawk sheaths yet :)
