Home Shopping katana video for real?

I just downloaded the inflamous Home Shopping network katana video in which the host/seller is banging one of his $45 katanas on the table in front of him, then the tip breaks and nails him right in the stomach and he goes down, etc. Is this video for real or is it a joke? I laughed my butt off, regardless (not that I'm glad he hurt himself, but it's hilarious all the same).

The camera's on autopilot, by the way, that's why you don't see any reaction from the "cameraman".

$40 is more than $20. :D I feel bad for the guy, but it cracks me up all the same. Any word on how hard he took it in the gut? It looks like the point sticks for just a fraction of a second, then the fragment (half the sword) drops. I love the producer who says "Well folks, we may need to be doing some emergency surgery here in the studio" then makes a little face like "serves this jerk right." Maybe the crew weakened the sword up to try to take the guy out!
 
word was that it just poked him requiring a few stitches.

Still pretty funny though. :D
 
It's real; it's funny, and I saved it on my hard drive for whenever I wanna laugh my substantial butt off. :D
 
i laugh till i cry everytime i see that... to me, imho, that is true justice. you sell poor products as functioning tools, and then *BAM* your sales pitch bites yah..

Yeah that is definitely a classic! I was actually soaked in tears from laughing so hard.

I'm waiting for that one guy selling the 99 "Collectible Knives" for $129.99 to stick one of those pot-metal Bowies through the back of his hand missing that pine stump they use for a prop...:)
 
www.swordforum.com has it as a permanent 'Sticky'. Yes I laughed and laughed. These swords should have the word "DECORATER" etched in 1" high letters on the blade.
