Hi this is my first post here.

Someone on another forum recommended that I share a project that I am working on here. I hope that I have the right sub-forum here...

I am very new at trying my hand at making a knife or two. Soon I will be working with a bar of 1/8" thick 1080 annealed stock.

I wanted a jig to help me file the basic profile.

I am not sure if I can post photos here.... So I posted it at "instructables"

My user name there is deebee2u.

I would appreciate advice and guidance about my jig. It seems to work on my test piece.

I appreciate comments to help me on the way

Luke, I'm glad you made your way over here! Check your email...

By the way, have you started thinking about profile ideas for your knife or the grind type you're going for? With the file jig you linked to it would be scandi or flat grind, any thoughts on that yet?

I filing jig has been made before and posted on here. Concept exactly the same and very effective.

Google "filing jig" and it will give you some things to look at from various knife sites.

Great I'd like to see it. This forum is expansive... Can you help me locate a link.

Thanks

Hey Luke, if you have this in a pdf, could you email it to me? I don't have an instructables Pro account, and would love to be able to save this.

Email is d g _ whitley at comcast . net

Just remove the spaces.

This is the file guide I had some one make for me to get my start in knife making. I would have made it myself but at the time I didn't have the tools to make it:o

I still have it and use it, but this weekend I finally get my grinder up and running
