I just got back from a week of prairie dog shooting in South Dakota. I had the pleasure of meeting a rancher last week who is also a fantastic knifemaker. Loyd Thomsen is the man behind Horsehead Creek Knives. He invited myself, and my 2 shooting partners into his workshop and home in Oelrichs, SD. He works exclusively with Damascus steel. He makes his own billets. Loyd is a true slice of Americana. A true hardscrabble rancher living off the land yet finding the time to pursue a passion of his.
The knife is a Fire Blue Damascus Skinner, 4" blade with a stabilized, dyed, California crotch maple handle, mosaic pins, 8" overall length.
