How about a Leatherman Micra with pliers?

I love my Leatherman Micra just as it is, but it would be great if it had another version that came with pliers.

SOG offers the CrossCut (scissors-based) and CrossGrip (pliers-based).

Why can't/doesn't Leatherman offer two a pliers-based version of the Micra?

I know about the Juice lineup, but those seem a little small to me; smaller than the Micra.

Mate, Lok at the Leatherman "Squirt" as it come in
both mini-pliers or sicssors (sp)

I don't have a Micra anymore, so I may be wrong, but if you want a straight answer, I think the plier jaws would take up too much room in the handles. By the time you got done redesigning, it wouldn't be recognizable as a micra variant anymore.

I have a micra knock-off with pliers. There's no tweezers, but besides that the tools are the same. Holding the two together, closed, you can't tell them apart, except that the knock-off is completely blank on the outside. The quality difference is quite noticeable, but I don't see why leatherman couldn't make one with pliers. Granted, the plier jaws are only 1/8" thick, but they still get the job done and I for one would prefer them to scissors. However, because of the quality, the micra is hands down the better knife.

They do. It's called The Squirt. Nearly the same form factor as the Micra, but with the option of pliers. Very nifty, but too small for me. The Juice (C4? the blue one) is as small as I'm willing to go.

How about the Buck mini tool? I think it's discontinued but there's probably some out there.

I can definitely reccomend the Leatherman Squirt P4 (the one with pliers). I have had Leatherman Micras, Juices, Waves, and countless other tools from countless other manufacurers, and what I now carry EVERY DAY is a Victorinox SwissTool X on my belt and a Leatherman Squirt P4 on my keychain.

Yes, the Squirt P4 is too small for some tasks, but it is one tough little tool and extrememly versitile for something that small. The alternative is a tool that is too large for carry on a keychain.

I, too, always wondered why those small tools always had scissors instead of pliers. I think pliers are far more useful in a pinch (no pun intended).

I have not tried the mini-BuckTool, but my wife has the regular sized one and it is a fine tool.

I think the Squirt P4 is a great back-up for my full sized SwissTool.

The Buck Mini Tool has BOTH scissors and needle nose pliers. The scissors aren't quite as nice as the Micra but they work fine.
