How do I Mount a 56C with no base?

Have a 1 1/2HP 3Phase Leeson motor with no base mount. Want to mount it on a Horizontal plate like my existing motor. Searching online I found this http://static.coleparmer.com/large_images/0712780.jpg , but how the heck does it attach? No holes on the Motor other than the 4- 4 1/4" spaced ones on the face. Any simple ideas? I know I can weld up something like an L bracket to bolt to the face holes, but isn't there something ready made like the link that I could purchase?

Use those 4 holes for mounting. That is what they are for!

SOme 56c motors have tapped holes in the bottom so you can bolt on and or off a motor foot. If yours does not have that trade it for one that does. Your kind of screwed unless you want
to make a L bracket out of seriously thick steel and drill it for the 5/8 shaft and 4 hold on bolts.

Mine has no holes on the outside of the case. I figured it would be a common problem and someone would make a aftermarket bracket. Hmm, maybe I could make some straps to wrap around the motor and attach them to that foot I linked?

So, it's possible that oldwolf needs what M has and M has what oldwolf needs.

Hmm.

Two options:
1) Get/make a 56C mounting bracket. It is a 90° bracket with the 56C hole and bolt pattern on the upright, and the base foot drilled for flat mounting. Construction method is to make a face plate and a base plate and to weld them at 90°, and add gussets.

2) Get/make a "universal" mounting . It is a base plate that clamps to the motor with two large metal strap clamps ( like giant hose clamps). If making one, use a 6-10" piece of 3-4" angle iron and cut/grind two notches 1" wide and 2" deep, about 1/2" in from the ends , and on the apex ( for the straps). Test fit this to the motor, and deepen the notches if needed. Weld the angle apex on a base plate drilled as needed for mounting. Add gussets if needed. Put the motor on the open "V" of the angle and run the straps through the notched openings.

Thanks Stacy. Looks like I'm going to do some welding. It's Cold out there. Plus I need to learn how to use my Mig. I like the GET part of Get/Make but I sure can't find one if they are available.

As much as I would like to swap, my motors not worth anything :( No ID plate so I don't know anything 'bout it other than it runs fairly decent (and I paid a whole $4.00 for it!)
