Every other damn time I use the can. my leatherman, my K-tusk, or both go slithering off my belt and onto the floor if I don't remember to catch them.

For a while I had a belt that was a bit more robust than most and that worked for a while. Then the buckle cracked in half. I can't seem to find a decent replacement.

any tips or tricks?

Thanks

Get a good belt!

Check out "The Wilderness," 1 3/4 inch model. It is a little expensive but worth it. It should grip onto your sheath well.

I have also taken a liking to Spec Ops Brand better BDU.

Cool, didn't think of that (duh!)

If only they were more presentable. Hmmm...

How about you unzip your fly and take a leak like that?

If you're talking about dropping a deuce then that's a different story. :D

Drop 'em, sit down, then buckle your belt into the first or second hole.

Sad that I've got it down to a science huh!
Guess I need to spend less time in the can, or wear less stuff on my belt! LOL

if you put a folder with a pocket clip in front of the belt loop which the knives are behind, a) you have an extra knife, 2) the pocket clip and knife keep the belt from sliding past the belt loop

as a construction worker, i've learned to NEVER take anything to the porta-john, restroom that you dont want to lose. knives, flashlights, phone, radio, and tape measure. i've seen all those in the " stuff ".

It helps if one or more of the item actually clips to the belt instead of just having a belt loop.

My watch fob (pocket watch user) and cell phone pouch both clip to my belt and limit the extent the belt can move through the pant loops.

I have a beer gut so nothing on my belt is up front. I carry two multi-tools on my left side and my 45 on the right. Everything is situated between my front and rear pockets with belt loops in front and back. With a loose over garment or even 2X T-shirt untucked nothing prints, even with a full size 45. I ride it all high and tight with no problem. Have been doing so for 20 years. This does not even include my EDC knives, two sets of keys, change, wallet and flashlight in my pockets. It is not uncommon for me to be packing 15 pounds of stuff on my belt and in my pockets, not including the steel tips. I do however pull the 45 and set it on the urinal, if possible, so it does not clatter on the floor. Being big does have some advantages, as long as I don't have to run, lol.

I mostly use Nylon belts so this may not work for you if you use a thick, wide leather belt:

I loop the non-buckle end back underneath the belt itself and pull it tight. Kind of like I am starting a knot that I don't finish.

Hope that made sense.

Isn't the belt loops of the trousers not stopping the knife, or is your knife at that front? I usually put my knife to the side, so that it's behind one belt loop: it simply cannot slide out.. That's how I do it if I understood your question right.

I carry knife and leatherman past the first belt loop right about over my right front pocket. the weight of the tools pulls the belt out of the loop and they fall on the floor. I tried carrying them farther back but then I end up sitting on them. I also like to save farther back for when I pack my Surefire or a radio.

i like others wear mine solely on the right side (if i could carry a pistol it would on left, being a lefty) and i found i never have an issue when i get horizontal scabbards made or pick knifes with a scabbard for horizontal carry. Not only do they not slide off as easy (because its wedged onto the belt) they are more inconspicuous.
