How do you carry your LM Multitool? (Wave specifically)

Hi all,
I love my new Wave. Been carrying it for about 2 weeks now and love it. My biggest problem with prior multitools was not being able to access the tools/blades easily and locking. Anyway, despite loving the tool, I hate the sheath. I don't know if it's just me or what. It just doesn't seem to work for me. I don't even really know how to describe it. Having said that, I was wondering how you carrying your multitool? I got the pocket clip and found the lanyard hole for my Wave. The pocket clip is very nice and fits nicely into my pack (I carry an extra small Tiimbuktu messenger bag) and if I'm wearing cargo shorts then it fits in the pocket. I'm thinking of either getting a different sheath, ballistic nylon probably, so that I can wear it on my belt or attaching a lanyard to it, via the lanyard hole. Any ideas? It's a heavy tool, relatively speaking, so I don't really want to carry it in my pocket and if I'm off my bike and just walking around town, I want it to be accessible because you wouldn't believe how often I use it. Thanks.

I usually carry multitools that size in a pack, but the nylon sheaths work much better on a belt than the leather for me.

I can believe how often you might use it. On the job, I always found something to cut, and I'm an inveterate tinkerer. Anything needs repairing, out comes the multitool.

LOL! I hear ya! I work at a hospital and end up getting it out of my bag at least once or twice every week because something needs tweaked. Drives my manager nuts, but she appreciates not having to wait on maintenance to get there. :)

I used to carry a screwdriver and pliers with me, along with my SAK. And that was wearing a suit to work. Once the first Leatherman came out, that was it, replaced all of them. (I'm back to keeping SAKs around though.)

Sometimes I clip my Charge (tarted up Wave) to my RF jeans pocket, where it is handy and out of the way, but it doesn't carry as well that way with dress trousers. Most of the time, it rides in the supplied nylon pouch worn horizontally on my belt @ 2 o'clock, completely comfortable as an EDC, and allowing me to stow some accessories, as well. Ah, bliss! :D

Just to add onto what has already been said - I think the nylon sheath is much nicer than the leather one. I carry it horizontally on my belt at ~3 o'clock with the belt loop in between the straps of the sheath (prevents the sheath from moving more than an inch either direction). Also allows me to carry the extra rack of bits and a few other small handy things on the sides (a needle, tweezers, a small pen). If you've only tried the leather sheath, it may be worth the $10 investment and try the nylon version.

Where do you get the nylon sheath other than leatherman? I was thinking of getting one of the knife/tool pouches from countycomm...any thoughts on that? I like the idea of carrying it sideways on my belt.

Gray, I just checked out my Wave and the County Comm sheath. It fits fine. The Leatherman sheath for the Wave fits better - no extra length. The Leatherman sheath also has two thin belt loops for horizontal carry instead of County Comm's one broad loop, but I don't think that's a problem either way.

I carry my LM wave on the leather sheath that it comes with between 4-5 o clock on my belt vertically, it's soo comfortable and does not get in the way, the wave literally stays on my belt 24/7.

I carry my Charge in its leather sheath along with the extra bit holder and a fisher bullet space pen in one of the elastic side sleaves. Never leave home without it.

I have used my Wave's leather sheath every day since purchase and no problems. This has been about 7 years.

I like to carry my wave horizontally when its not in my edc. I never had much use for the stock leather pouch. I used the multi position carry pouch from my SOG power plier to carry the Wave for years. It is now worn out.

Someone on this site mentioned the Super Sheath from Spec Ops brand. It seems like the perfect size for the wave and can be carried in multiple ways. I definitely want to buy one. Plus it comes in a color that will match my Jumbo Versipak.

Cheers.

I have a leatherman kick. When i first got it i was oppose to carrying it in a sheath because i felt it would bother me on my side since i already carry a cell phone holder. So i decided to attach lanyard to it via the lanyard hole. (BAD IDEA) All it does is get in the way when you try to use the tools especially the screwdrivers. It did work great for getting it out of your pocket. But overall it was a bad idea. Just my two cents worth.

I most usually carry my LM Charge or Wave with the removable pocket clip, clipped to my RRP. ;)

I wish spec ops or maxpedition would make a nylon sheath with a snap or buckle instead of velcro. I just got the single sheath from maxpedition. It's great quality and fits my charge like a glove, but I HATE velcro. It's so loud and looses it's effectiveness over time. If someone knows of a good nylon multi-tool sheath with something other than velcro let me know.....

Today I am carrying my multitool in a KSF Adirondack pocket sheath, which it is sharing with a Mini Canadian.

I carry my Charge in that lower right pocket on carpenter jeans when not at work

i use the leather case and have never had any problems with it. i bought a pocket clip for it, and that was pretty good, but i lost it. just a quick side note: if you order a LM pocket clip off Amazon, go ahead and order some other stuff at the same time.
here's why:
