How do you carry your traditional pocket knives?

I did a quick search to see if this thread has come up recently and didn't find anything, but the moderators can delete it if I'm being redundant.

I'm curious as to how folks here carry their traditional pocket knives, and how many you carry at one time.

I tend to carry at least two knives wherever I go--one to use for food and one to use for chores. I have pocket slips and one belt pouch, but I find myself using the slips more often than the pouches. I've noticed some guys like to just carry the knife as is, and that's how I carried as a kid, but I like the idea of my slip keeping some of the lint out of my knife and protecting the covers from other things that I often carry in my pocket (rocks, stones, razor blades; you know, just the normal stuff).

So how do you carry?

Bummer. Well, if this thread needs to go, I can dig for the other one.

It's been covered fairly recently, but even knowing the thread title doesn't always pull it up unfortunately :(

Alox Cadet in LFP with keys, larger traditional (3⅝" to 4¼") in RFP with handkerchief, and if wearing jeans, then an even larger modern OHO in the watch pocket (I buy pants with deep watch pockets).

Right front pocket is the main carry, watchpocket for secondary and either I slide one in my back pocket against my wallet, or into a spare pocket when wearing carpenter pants.

If I’m hunting I’ll carry a belt sheath with a bigger folder.

Buck 110 on the belt. (every day)
A stockman, Scout/Camp knife (every day) loose in the right front pocket.
Sometimes, I'll add a Barlow or Canoe in the watch pocket.
Occasionally, I'll carry a Rough Rider (large) Sunfish or 2 blade Half Hawk/Sheepsfoot in a belt sheath, next to the 110.
(The half hawk/sheepsfoot has a pen secondary blade)
I generally carry at least 3 traditional knives, which includes the 110.
I don't have any "modern" knives.

I have a range of 5.11 trousers/pants, which have two small pockets on the front of each leg - just the right size for a folder, so I slip one in each ;)

Larger folders go in a belt pouch, usually on my right hip, though I horizontally carry my Abbeydale Jack, cross-draw

Edit - In winter, larger folders just go in my coat pocket.

Sheath knives go on my right hip. Some of my 5.11s have a yoke pocket into which they fit. Small FBs go in my right front pocket or tucked into my waistband, with a belt tether.

If I'm wearing jeans, I'll carry a folder in the watch-pocket, and probably another, in a slip, in the right-front pocket

It’s been covered many times, google search is always better than the search tool here.

I carry my knives in my front right pocket. Fixed blades on my belt. Pretty lame and traditional I know lol.

Thanks for the tip on searching.

No problem at all. It’s a nice work around for any website’s search tools since more often than not, they don’t work very well. You can get creative with how it works also. Most times if you add “traditional” with your search terms, it’ll limit the results mostly to the threads in the traditional forum.

Generally one traditional in a pocket slip - right front pocket. Sure, it's protected better, but I care more about the added heft so a knife does not fall out of pocket without me noticing. LB-1 and Classic rotate on the keys.

I carry my edc, loose, in my right front pocket. When I'm at work, I carry a Buck 112 in a belt sheath also. I'm considering trying a pocket slip for a recent addition, but I don't see that really being my style.

Never knew that.... I carry a traditional (currently a stag LionSteel Small Opera) or a SAK in my right front pants pocket and for the last couple of months a modern clipped to my right back pocket. Only use pocket slips on the nice GEC's. Don't care for belt pouches.

I've always carried my knife in the same pocket with my keys. Never used a slip as I don't like the extra step between retrieving my knife and using it, but KSF sent one with my last order an I find myself using it more and more with my newer knives.
Helps keep the knife from slipping out while sitting down and seems to prevents grit.
Still, I'm nervous about the leather holding moisture from sweat in the summer months and rusting my knife so it probably won't get used then.

My primary knife goes in the right front pocket. Secondary in the watch pocket.

Both knives are the only items that occupy those pockets so no slip necessary.

If I did carry with other items in the same pocket I would probably reluctantly use a slip. Nothing irritates me more than having coins or keys getting lodged between the blades/liners that have to be removed before I can use the knife. I wouldn't like having to deal with the extra steps of using a slip either but it would be the better option. Fortunately, I don't have to deal with either one of those issues.

Unfortunately, the 'Search' function leaves a lot to be desired these days :(

I like Jake's hint about searching BF via Google!:cool::thumbsup: (But I always seem to forget it. :()

Regarding BF Search function, it usually serves me quite well. For example, I typed "how carry knives" into the Search... box at the top right of the page, checked the box for "Search titles only" and checked the box for "Search this forum only", then clicked the Search button on the bottom left of the Search window. I got 3 hits, all of which seem at least mildly relevant:
https://www.bladeforums.com/threads...ife-or-knives-you-carry-and-how-many.1491544/

https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/how-do-you-carry-your-traditional-knives.1257127/

https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/how-do-you-carry-your-traditional-knives.1257127/

I'm sure that appropriately changing the words to search for could get one even more relevant results.

I'll be back to answer the question in the title thread later. :)
