How do you carry your Victorinox Classic?

just wondering how do y'all carry your Classic? Those of you who have one anyway. Pics are welcome :)

All those carrying it on keychains with keys.... do you see any damage to the scales after prolonged carrying and using?

And does anyone have issues using it if it's on keys? I find using the knife itself annoying sometimes because of the position of the key ring. The file and scissors are fine though.

I made a leather pouch type sheath to protect the knife and also to free it up for use of any tool by having it just slide out of the sheath to use, unattached to anything.

Either on my keys or in my shirt pocket. I like having a classic near by, primarily for the scale tools as I always have an Alox SAK with me as well.

@jackkinfe: That's a sweet sheath!

I've found that I use the thing so much, that it just can't be attached to the keyring. With the sheath, I can just slide out, use, slide back on. Adds a whole other dimension to the usefulness of the knife/tool. Also the leather protects the knife agains the banging around by the keys on the ring. Any piece of light leather will do, and some waxed linen thread. An awl issued for punching the holes and I try to get them as even as possible, but it's all done freehand. A little shoe polish and wax and some buffing with a rag is the last step. It still darkens over the years. Once in a while when it gets too loose, I soak it in warm water, with the knife removed of course, and mash it down flat and let it dry overnight empty. In the morning when it dry, it's a snug fit again.

Mine just rides in my right front pocket with my loose change and $1 bills. Since there is never THAT much money in there, it's pretty easy to locate quickly.

In an Altoids tin as part of a mini-first aid kit that sits in an inner pocket of my bag.

I should probably buy more of these...and put one in a First Aid kit.

Guys, do you think if I put this thing on a keychain and jangle it around in my pocket, on shelves, on key hooks and my bike for a few years.....that it's going to get damaged?
I don't care about worn scales though

These little knives are more capable than people think. They work well in a first aid kit, but they work best on your person being used every day for all those little urban/suburban jobs that don't require a large knife.

I have an Alox Mini Champ that currently rides on the keys. Don't know why, really, I rarely use the array of tools on it other than the scissors. Classic SD would be fine for key ring use. If it were going to be my only pocket tool I think I'd go with the Rambler for the Phillips/bottle opener tool. I had a Rambler but gave it to my wife. Any of the 58mm SAKs are fine, just pick your tool preference.

Don't have a Victorinox Classic (yet); instead I have a Wenger Esquire (very similar). Not attached to keys (I REALLY NEED to reduce the number of keys on the ring); whenever I carry the Esquire, it goes in the watch pocket of my slacks.

On keys. I got this used, so the scales were already broken in. However, scales don't see any more worn than when I first got it. It is hard to use the blade with keys on, but my key ring is easy to remove. I usually leave the keys attached if I only have to make a couple of cuts. It's a great knife. Don't leave home without it!

If you don't have a sheath for it, you can out a quick release clip on the keyring, so the classic can be unhooked in a second.

Leather Sheath on Keychain for my Signature Lite.
Free on car keychain carry for the Alox Classic.

@Dogstar: That answers the question! Thanks.

@Jackknife: Creative! I just found a hook knocking about. I'll put it on and try it out for a few days.

@strategy9: In unison eh? I like it! I'll be carrying a Recruit with me along with the Classic on the keys. A Huntsman is better suited when travelling or hiking I suppose

One is always in my first aid kit in my bag, and I put another in my watchpocket, when I can't carry a bigger multitool.

I carry a Classic (black) in my pocket along with a Cadet every day.
The scales get abused and I'm fine with that. This is a tool that gets used in some way every single day. For f***'s sake, it's a ten dollar knife. It's not a safe queen! Toss one in your pocket and don't worry about it.
I usually have a few on hand: one for the pocket, one for my traveling tool bag, etc.
I've given some away, had one stolen from my luggage (thanx, Boston Delta baggage monkeys) and had one confiscated by TSA in Oregon last March. My last one, gone! I was bereft!
I flew to Florida. Two days later I found myself at a Target somewhere in Mississippi and they had Classics on sale for ten bucks or so. Bought a handful. Most of those have been given away. Time to re-stock!

In any case, a Classic belongs in your pocket, on your keychain, anywhere it is accessible. I use mine every single day. I rely on a simple tool complement and the Classic is greatly valued and much beloved.

Scratch it up!

Cheers!

Usually in one of my pockets. My keychain is full up with my YMCA card, a CPR mask, and a pill tube.
