How does everyone carry their knives without clips

Some knives can be a bit bulky in the bottom of your pants pocket so I resurrected an old 70s pocket keyring/clip collecting dust called the Jean Ring. Works great on this SAK.

I make pocket "holsters." Here's a Skirmish along with my keys; this is a right side pocket holster seen from the inside. On the outside face of it, its all smooth leather, so there's no "printing" as to what's in my pocket.

Clipless knives go into my left front pocket right along side my cell phone. Putting those two side by side helps then stay in place. All my knives are small so it doesn't really bother me too much if they flop around.

Two words: watch pocket. it works quite well for sub 3 inch blades....

It's not something I've done yet, but I'm thinking over making pocket holsters like DRider mentioned, but with a clip on so they can be clipped on the inside of my pocket, or on my belt. I"m planning on making them out of a generic thin knife pouch glued (strong stuff, think it's called araldite or something) to a money clip. Simple and cheap! I thought i was going to have to make the knife pouch myself but then discovered these generic pouches/sleeves at my local hunting shop - similar to the sleeves you get for the small SAKs. My main concern is the glue, but I think araldite (?) is meant to have a death-grip! I don't like having stuff rattling around loose in my pockets, but i also want to protect my knives from lint build-up. It'll probably be a while before i actually get round to making one of these pouches but I'll try to post a pic when i do.

I carry my Solar Arc just in my pocket or in the kydex neck sheath that Peter Atwood made for me. But, I usually just have it in my pocket. I just drop my SAK (Alox Soldier) in my pocket too.

With the exception of my NIB Benchmades, which keep their clips, I always carry the 'EDC's without. One way for me, is the watch pocket. My 940 rides there nicely. So does my large MK1 Ritter. Depends on the jeans and depth of the pocket. Pretty comfortable, you hardly know they're there.

For other times, I use the large and small Benchmade belt pouches, depending on what goes 'with' for the day.

As an alternative for my 940 and 943, without clips, I had a custom black leather sheath made by Vess Leatherworks up in Canada. Some of his work is out on the 'big' website. Look for BM 710 sheaths.

Watch pocket. If it has a ring or lanyard deal i'll attatch a keychain clip type thing and hang it from a belt loop with my keys. That or a belt sheath.

I tend to use the pocket clip but placing the knife in the back pocket (with or wiht out a wallet) keeps it pretty secure but out of sight.

All my knives except the smallest Kershaw Leek I own goes in a belt sheath or is carried in a kydex sheath with a bead chain around my neck. The Leek is clipped to my back pocket.

Hiya there to everyone in knifedom,

I have been using these buckaroo's for a while now ever since I was introduced to them by a friend of mine who makes them. They are very cool indeed!

You have several options with the way these function. The one way I use is you thread your belt through the little leather lasso near a favorite pocket in your jeans and then tuck the buckaroo(with the knife stuffed inside) into the pocket.. This protects the the knife from sand, grit, pocket lint, coins and what all else that manages to find its way into your pockets to try and beat your knife down. I have also seen some Gals hang them from various buttons on there shirts and various catches and zippers from there purses and what knot. They are getting very popular with Cowboys out in the western states worn like pocket watch style in and on shirts and vests.. Anyway, I found once I tried them I really wondered what I did without having this option at my disposal before.

I've got a couple of small belt sheaths that I use for knives without clips. If social correctness does not allow their use, the knife will go into my right front pocket. (The watch pocket is not an option for me. That's where I keep my pocket watch.)

I rotate from a Leek, to a Heat, depending on what I'm doing. While working, my Leek is always at the bottom of my right front pocket. Out of work the Heat is almost always in a old Buck-Lite nylon pouch on my belt with lanyard protruding from the pouch for easy access. I'm not really comfortable with anything bigger than a Leek in the bottom of my pocket, and for some unknown reason I rarely use the clip that comes with most knives, in most cases removing it as soon as I get the knife.

I do occasionally carry a A G Russell Featherlite in place of the Leek, and will do the same with a Kershaw Blackout in place of the Heat in the pouch on my belt.

I like those I think I will make one for my S&M English Jack and give it a try.

I liked Sunnyd's so I decided while watching football today to cobble this together to see how it works.

Bors,

WOW.. That is so cool, and quick work too! Great job Bors.

Rigson,

I friend of mine makes them. He runs a small internet site that sells knives and leather-works. You can visit him at www.cuttersandcollectors.com and tell him Anthony sent you. His name is Ron and he is a very benevolent chap indeed.

Blessings,
Anthony
