Do you recommend it or do you recommend the Stun Baton?

As a self-defense measure, stun guns are not a very good idea. No matter what the voltage, they require several seconds of contact before the neuromuscular effect incapacitates the attacker. In most cases, this is more than enough time for the bad guy to take the thing away from you and shove it up your arse.

If you're truly interested in self-defense, the first rule of thumb is to keep the attacker away from you. That means forgetting about stun guns and kubotans and tactical flashlights and pointed sticks and getting yourself a pepper spray, a baton or cane, or better yet, a handgun.

He's Right. over 20 years now in some of the toughest places in the world... I have never carried a stun gun. Now, Take into account in training I got nailed by both Stun guns and mace/pepper sprays. The Mace/Pepper sprays take a few seconds to affect me, at first I was like,"Okay, hmmm...when does the pain come?" and then, whammo! Insta hot like someone is holding your eyes to a Bic Lighter. I dropped like a bag of crap. Stun Guns were pretty much Instant for me, I dropped again like someone had hit me with a lead pipe. But... I saw it coming, I could easily avoided contact. Everyone was/is different. I am a short guy,5 foot seven and 180 pounds with years of lifting iron and fitness behind me. I am a much better fighter and would use that before going to a stun gun or even a knife. I have never been in a knife fight or been in a situation to draw a knife in defense. To me, both mean I gotta be too close for too long for safety. I have been in a few gunfights,I have shot and been shot (nothing to brag about, trust me)

When it comes to self defense, I think people are better off using thier heads and situational awareness then anything. I know I am here on a knife forum, with alot of keyboard commandos and my words may be thought of as non confrontational, but intelligence wins wars and battles. Pick your battles wisely. Dont expect much of anything short of a double tap headshot from stopping a drugged out piece of garbage using you for his next fix.(then what are you going to do if he has friends?) I could go on and on, I'll shut up now. ;)

Stun guns are great for killing a computer in a fit of George Hayduke style revenge...or so I've read.
