How many have you taken on one trip?

Just curious, how many tools (knives/multi tools/axes/saws) have you taken on a camping/wilderness survival trip? I usually take a good 5"-7" fixed blade, a SAK with saw feature, and a hatchet. What does everyone else take? Also, what is the most amount you have ever taken? Just thought this may be a fun one!

Usually when camping I take a 4-5 inch fixed blade, a multitool or SAK, and a chopper (either a large knife or an axe).

If I am backpacking I usually just bring a 7-9 inch knife and a SAK.

The most knives I have ever taken was seven knives while car camping. I only brought them because I wanted to see which ones I was actually going to use more. A 4-5 inch fixed and a big chopper were used almost exclusively.

I usually Carry A SAK or other small multi with a Saw, A leatherman(Pliers often come in handy), Either a 4-6 inch fixed or a large locking folder (sometimes both), A folding Saw,or a small hatchet (Gerber/Fiscars). and sometimes a neck knife in my psk (Becker necker or Crawford)

For backpacking its usually Just the SAK, The leatherman My edc folder (Endura)and a chopper either hatchet or 5-6 inch fixed.

I have brought about a dozen fixed blades on a car camping trip just to try out different blades, to see which i liked best.

I tend to take more than I really need, but I still have to think it over for a while to decide which ones get taken and which ones get left behind.

For example, on an 8-day backpacking trip last summer, I took:

Spyderco Para
Bark River North Star
Queen #9 Stockman
SAK Classic
Buck Crosslock, Cabelas Alaskan Guide version
Leatherman Squirt

I really need to pare that down some.

i know what you mean... i have also done the same on many backpacking trips.... over the past few years.... i have slimmed it down to just a few....

-4-5 in. fixed blade...
-small fixed blade.. usually a necker of some sort..
-SAK
- saw or hatchet....

For motorcycle camping (somewhere between backpacking and car camping, gear-wise), I have a multitool, folder, 4-5 inch fixed blade, and hatchet. I could certainly get by with far less - just the multi and hatchet would handle things - but the fact is, I like knives, multitools and such, I have several, and I take more than I need because I think they're neat and I like to see how each one works.

My favorites for awhile have been a Swisstool Spirit, Spyderco Native, and either the Grohmann #1 or Becker Crewman. My only hatchet is one labled "Sandvik," but I don't know the brand. It's too bulky to actually carry on my person. I'd like to find a small belt axe or hatchet, if someone can recommend one.

For backpacking, just a multitool and either a folder or small fixed blade.

I aways take much more then i need;
-4-6" fixed blade
-SAK
-Spyderco Manix
-My EDC (spyderco delica or BM mini grip)
-Hatchet
-Saw
-LM wave

When in the middle of nowhere I carry a large 7 inch blade and a large SAK. thats it thats all.

I dont need anything else and who wants to lug 10 lbs of steel with them?

Car camping is very different thean deep bush wacking.

A few years ago, I went car camping and had.

1 bowsaw
1 Buck t handled saw
3 SAKs
2 hatchets
1 double bit
1 German made bowie
1 Becker BK-7
2 Moras
1 CaseXX jungle bolo
1 CaseXX fixed blade
1 Gerber Gator
and an assortment of old kitchen knives

Both the wife and I used every single tool and she chose the tools that she liked and I bought more.:D

One of each:
Fixed: BK7 or Howling Rat with folding saw
SAK/multitool: Leatherman Wave or Vic OTH
Something for carving wood: Opinel 8 or Mora

Favourite combo: Howling Rat, folding saw, LM Wave and Opinel 8. Its versatile, save in use, not to heavy and do you need more!

A Leatherman WAVE
Australian bush blade (based on the English rabbit blade)
50cm Wetterings Axe
Folding saw

Oddly enough, I don't camp much. Last time I camped, though, I only took a SAK (Wenger Handyman, love the saw), two 3-3 1/3" locking folders (Spyderco Native and Benchmade Vex), and an 8" fixed blade (Ranger RD7).

My trusty wetterlings, Vic Fireman, leatherman wave and My Grohmann #4 stainless. Although im thinking of getting the boat knife from Grohmann.

I too over-carry blades, but it's a weakness I'm willing to live with (and carry:D ).

For most trips, whether hunting, backpacking or camp-ground camping, I almost always go with the following:

1) Folding saw (Sawvivor or Kershaw's folding saw)
2) Large blade (EVO-1, BR, Livesay RTAK or Fehrman) OR a hatchet (GP or Firestone hatchet)
3) Belt knife, 4-5.5"...always worn (Grohman, Bark River, Pasayten, Fehrman, Dozier, MPF10A2, TAK)
4) At least one folding pocket knife (RSK, BM, Spyderco, Emerson, Sebenza, Al Mar, )
5) Multi-Tool (Leatherman or Swiss Tool)
6) SAK (Rucksak, Huntsman or Farmer)

I sometimes throw a neck knife into the mix...Fallkniven WM1, RJM Handiman, REKAT Hobbit's Fang or something like AG Russel's little Woodstalker.

Of course, that is the "minimum", but I'll often take a new blade or something else to test out:D

Let's see, on my last fly-in fishing trip:

2 SAK's
1 Spyderco M16
1 Fillet knife
1 LM Surge

Hmm.. I guess I need a few more baldes ...

I take with me;

Full tang puuka knife (Ray mears model)
Swiss tool
Folding saw
and a gransfor bruks axe

My standard is a Leatherman PST2 and a Busse Mud Razor (7" blade). I will add a small fixed blade, an axe or a machete/big blade depending on what I am doing. Wjen with a vehical, I tend to take the extra.

Oh ya, but this does change when Im hiking, which I dont do too much of.

1 folding knife.
1 fixed blade
2 wetterling axes, a 15" and the 32" felling axe
1 chain saw
Have you seen the size of some of these trees out here?

Being live in the tropics I tend to always carry a machete or golok, one 7" fixed blade, and one folder/multitool (mostly SAK, endura, or Leatherman Wave)
