In the late 80's when the movie came out every males on earth that have seen the 1985 movie wanted this specific knife !
4 Years later when Jimmy (Lile) made a mass production deal with United Cutlery ...i mean ... the market became crazy (insane)
The late A.G. Russell in a interview even stated : "Boy it did sell knives...Thousands and Thousands , Then Hundreds of Thousands of knives..." and it continue to this day almost 40 years later !!
Probably the MOST ULTIMATE ICONIC MOVIE KNIFE OF ALL TIME (better than the 1982 version) that truly inspired Paul Hogan for his Crocodile Dundee's Outback Bowie made a year later.
Aside the BUCK 110 I found at the small river near my house when i had 8-9 years old in the early 80's the Jimmy Lile THE MISSION bowie is the most Iconic knife in my collection. ( I own a handmade one that Jimmy made at his shop + i HAD to Re-buy the good old United Cutlery 1:1 version again (the 3rd ones in my life) after i have re-discovered that some guys use it in the wood for fun and had a great time since the blade hold up pretty well actually.
I would LOVE to read your youth stories about this specific mean looking blade , the impression the knife made on you while watching the movie , Age you had when you got your knife & how to got it , if you used it in the wood etc...
NO "Cheap Alloy/Display Knives" bashing please , just pure 80's fun here !
