I just purchase my FIRST Regular Sebenza and imo at quite a premium price for a knife that is 8 years old and used. I am happy with the purchase and look forward to the new addition, but couldn't help to think what a Regular Large Sebenza normally goes for on average? I do realize they are discontinued and that can/does affect demand.

I searched the For Sale Forum for previously sold Regular Large Sebs, but of course the majority of people don't leave the price up once sold.

If you are comfortable stating what you have paid for a used Regular Large Sebenza I would love to know!

I realize this matter is subjective to each person, but im sure there has to be some kind of expected price range.

For the record I have purchased both my Large Sebenzas used.
The 2009 21 for $320
The 2002 Regular for $309

Thanks!

the only used sebenza i have purchased was a large classic modded by koster. it had the meltdown done on the scales. it shows up in pics once in a while, and seems to have changed hands a few times since i sold it. i think i paid about $350.

I don't mind saying. My first Regular Sebenza was bought for $215.00 shipped. I bought it used off ebay, I had bid and then forgot about the auction. I actually had the seller contact me after the auction had ended (a week or so later) because the person that outbid me had failed to pay for it. The seller offered it to me for what I had bid originally for it. I gladly paid for it, only thing that disappointed me after getting the sebenza (My first one btw) was everything was in the box except the birthday card (this really bothered me for a while). I tried to contact the seller about getting the birthday card, but no luck. I was bummed about this until I realized that I would never sale this knife, so I was just being silly. I sent it back to CRK in July of this year to have a spa treatment. That is when I had it engraved as well. I told Heather about not having the original Bday card in which she said they could do a "refurbished" bday card.

My first sebenza was a large regular I bought a couple years ago off ebay right before christmas. Its in mint condition and after getting it and doing some research, I found it to be a large regular sebenza with BG-42 blade. All at the bargain price of $280 including shipping. A month or two after that, I wanted a large regular sebenza to have my NCIS engraving put on it. I was going to have it done to my BG-42, but did not and looked for a new one. I found another on ebay also and ended up getting it for $315. I then had it engraved by CRK with my NCIS engraving. After that, I bought a large regular sebenzas in the moonsong, tanto nica, and a native american. The only over $400 was the native american. I have since sold the moonsong and tanto to blade forum members for $400.

I love the regular and I am amazed that they seem to be so sparce. You rarely see them, on the forums and even on ebay they are pretty rare these days.

Just keep looking and keep track of what they have sold for, so when you do see one, you dont overpay. It tough sometimes to hold back.

In the end, if its something you really want and have been looking for for a long time, paying a little more to get what you want is okay too. Just how much you overpay depends on you. Sometimes selling one to buy another works. Thats what I did recently. I really wanted the native american. I ended up selling the moonsong and used the funds from that to get it. In the end: I got what I wanted, and the buyer of the moonsong got what he wanted. We are Both Happy !!!

The lowest I've seen on a used small Sebenza was about $230.00. It all depends on demand for the knife, and if the seller is willing to go down in price. All Sebenzas can be refurbished. BTW, check to see if your 2002 Seb is a BG42 model.

I owned a Small Regular Sebenza for 4 years, got some heavy use out of it, and then sold it for $280 on eBay. It was pretty scratched up too, and had been sharpened several times. But those are just aesthetics. The knife was as rock solid as it was on day one. Sebenzas are built to last a lifetime, so I think that $280 is a fair value.

I thought we were only talking about large sebenzas.....lol. The best deal I ever got on a sebenza was my small "P" style sebenza. I got it on ebay for $200 a few months ago. Its in excellent condition and has Ats-34 blade steel. Its currently in the spa. I will post pics when I get it back. I have a small dog paw lanyard to put in it when I get it back. I got a couple other sebenzas, plain and unique, from $250-$300 also.

I also got several mnandi over the years in the $250 range. I wish I had some of them back as the woods were beautiful. But there were some mnandi that were full price.

Some of the CRK I let go, I really regret. But with funds being short lately, I resorted to trading some to get other knives I wanted. Thats how I ended up with all 3 sizes of XM's. So I did get something good in return.

Thank you everyone for posting!

Really appreciate all the information and stories!
I feel I paid about right for what I got and I'll have to check if it is BG-42 or not. I'm expecting s30v so that'll be a nice surprise if it is indeed BG42.

Scarce is right! I've been waiting a long while to see a plain jane Ti Lg Reg come about and had to jump on it!

Edit: Knife is s30v, still stoked!

I recently paid $340 shipped for a large regular in a bit better shape than the one you scored today.

Ultimately, you're doing very well to score a good condition, discontinued knife for less than what the list price was. Especially when the lockup is 50-60% on receipt.

Professor.

Oh how prices have changed in 14 years

I paid ~$1K for a large 2010 Annual ~2012. I remember paying too much back then… but I really, really wanted it and still have it. A treasure!

If memory serves, I paid ~$600 for a very clean large “PJ” Regular around the same time. Meh. Still have that one too, but it just isn’t magical IMO.

Again, same era, paid $600 for a small Annual with custom inlays and $300-ish for a small regular PJ.

I no longer look for Regulars. Four is plenty. The guilt I experienced from paying too much then has eased over time. New large Annuals where $600-ish, weren’t they?

Current prices are crazy.
