i was just wanting to see if anyone could give me advise on the best way to hang an axe on the wall when you arent using it or how the best way to store it is.

ok, im assuming you have many axes not just an axe...having many axes may necessitate an axe rack.that being said i feel you should build a lavishly opulent shrine to house them in.....or a couple of nails :D

Well if you dont want to use nails or build a rack i use those brass double garment hooks you can screw them in anywhere you want keeps them out of the way but still easy to get to looks pretty good to .

I have been thinking about the same thing. I have quite a few axes, hatchets and hawks. I keep picking up projects. I was thinking about setting up something like a towel rack to hang the axes off. I would make sure they had a cover on them. It will probably be quite heavy so the rack will have to be attached to studs. For a single axe displayed in the house, anything screwed to the wall for a rifle should work for you. If you hunt, cut the deer legs off, fold them and hold in place and dry. I still have a blackpowder rifle rack made that way, at least 25 years old. Screw them to a wooden base. I have two hawks on the wall. They are attached by two small nails in the wall and some fine wire loops over the handle of the hawk. Never had a problem. Nice display in room and easily to get to if needed.

I know my wife would do a lot more than complain if I had a "deer hoof axe rack" in the house! :D

I've always wanted a couple vintage firetruck axe mounts. They pop up on the 'Bay every once in a while.

a notched out 2x6 attached to the wall works well, pretty inexpensive and easy to make. Wont win a Better Homes and Gardens house decor contest, but is effective nonetheless.

I'm actually wondering this, too. Planning to use something like Dewalt's "Sharkie" wall anchors, but I'm not sure what the best hooks or arms to mount to the wall to hold the axe would be. I'm rehabbing a Kelly double bit Vulcan for my buddy so that he can hang it above the hearth at his modest condo in the local mountains, but don't think it should be permanently attached to the wall (like, for example, the old timey cross country skis that are affixed to another wall in his place w/ wire lol)

Not quite what you're asking about, but I keep a couple of tomahawks hanging on a lamp in the corner of my living room. The way I figure it, if anyone I have over to visit is too bothered by that then they don't belong in my home.
