How to use the wire stripper?

I was trying to strip a small wire with my Swisstool's wire stripper.

Was impossible...was the wire too small, or perhaps my technique goofed?

If you're stripping from the pliers you need to practice not putting so much pressure on them that you cut through the wire. The stripper that's part of the chisel implement is a little trickier. I use my thumb to keep the wire in place and then make a circle with the tool to cut the insulation. Keep at it ;)

I use it to install a 2 way radio in my house and my Jeep and it worked fine since the beggining, no problem at all I use the one that is in the chisel.

I was trying to use the notch that is part of one of the screwdrivers (I think).

I will just use the pliers.

Thanks,
Bob

Hello Bob,

Isn't that part supposed to be a "wire-bender"? I have also tried stripping wire with it, but it doesn't work too good (especially with thinner gauge wire). =)

I actually like the wire bender as a wire stripper. I find it much less likely to break or cut through the wire than the sharpened V type. I just take my knife blade and carve off a little section of plastic, put the wire through the notch and bend it over, give a good pull and the platic strips off leaving a clean wire. YMMV.
