How would you mount a laser sight onto your slingshot

I know there's one currently being advertised on FB but it got me thinking. It must align to a specific user's hold and aim. The problem is hard enough with a bow and arrow that has a more linear orientation with little up-down deviation in hold and aiming point.

Hold, aim, draw length, ammunition weight, etc, lots of variables that seem to make this just a gimmick. Its not like a gun that fires projectiles of nearly identical weights at nearly identical velocities and so will be reasonably accurate.

As you both point out - this would be almost useless on a standard slingshot - the most accurate slingshot shooters I’ve seen don’t use any sights - it’s all instinctive shooting (eg hours of practice). On a “mechanized slingshot” (aka a home-made project or a bb gun), it would work fine...

It may have a benefit in that it would present a focal point for aiming. I would suggest firing for consistency and then mounting the laser to aim at the point of impact while relying on muscle memory to hold the sling shot in the correct position. This is a case where the body will learn adjust to the laser; but, mounting it correctly will get you a more natural and comfortable hold.

I'd try to get one right on the top of the handle where the v starts.

Shouldnt affect the ammo trajectory, you could use a set screw to adjust elevation. Left and right is another story.

I think you could get close with a lazer. You'd have to have consistent ammo and technique for it to be of any use though I think.

I can see some of those fiber-optic sights being more practical if you need a sight. Personally I don't use a sight, and have other reference points for accuracy. These being draw length, where the band brushes my cheek (I shoot with a floating anchor most of the time), top corner of the frame referencing against the target, etc.

Laser sight, schmazer schmite...

Only way to do the slingshot is a'la "Zen in the Art of Archery".

Remove your conscious effort, and allow your empty mind to attain the awareness of the target and the release point.

You'll miss a shit-ton of stuff, but you won't have batteries to replace. :)

I always felt there was a fair amount of "Kentucky Windage" involved when I used a sling shot. "Zen" pretty much covers my approach.

Either way, adding a laser sight would be "trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear".
